Onliest Smeg David Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 I had a fantastic three days as a volunteer. Muchly Muchly TA ALL, especially main organisers! Westfields, Great food, beer and people - what more could one want! Great Marquee as usual, with open sides making it more inviting and accesable. The video/photo show a great new touch. Scott leaving with a working engine. An 'Upgrade' would work as a regular feature imo. I especially feel the Speed Series presence was best I've ever seen and far more inviting to potential newbies, so we'll done @John Williams - WSCC Competition Secretary & SS team. 5 Quote
shrops-paul Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Another great weekend for me, and camping / volunteering was brilliant as per last year. I would happily pay a discounted rate to do the same rather than it being completley free. It's a great way to really get involved with the club and meet lots of other members. However the rest of the show and what's in the halls was to me a carbon copy of last year. Interesting to see other Kit cars but not a lot of excitement and more a trade show atmosphere. A good place to buy dog beds and 50 different types of spanner set?!?!? I liked the speed series stand. That felt like an inviting and dynamic stand. The center piece was scotts car and the work going into it. Would be good to have something similar next year. 1 Quote
Onliest Smeg David Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Yep, rest of show has stagnated recently. So I didn't walk around elsewhere much at all this year. 1 Quote

BenD Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 I had a great time meeting new people. The outside club standard as always were interesting to look around. But I can't help but think that the show will become a one day event I thought the inside was dwindling on suppliers. Except for siltech who were very enthusiastic about some of the thing I were asking them. As always wscc stand was one of the best there and a great bunch of people to back it up 2 Quote
DELETE ME Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 First time at Stoneleigh and took my Westfield along. My Wife and 3 year old went in her car separately and we met at the WSCC tent. I was very impressed with the Westfield turn out and the facilities WSCC had to offer. I made use of the valuables cloakroom and found that I was being expected with a nice little name badge for me. Didn't get chance to meet people due to keeping the 3 year old entertained, but I loved all the stalls and cars for some fresh ideas and it was nice to see lots of spares and tools on offer. Overall as a family day out it exceeded our expectations and we will be visiting again next year. 2 Quote
andy665 Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 First time to the show in 31 years. I personally think that the club put everything else to shame - the size, the professionalism and the friendliness. Too few staff on too many of the manufacturers stands and those that were there often appeared disinterested or completely lacking in knowledge. I met up with a couple of friends, one of whom was seriously interested in an Ultima, he went on to the stand and was immediately palmed off to a teenage "pretty " girl in a short skirt who clearly had no knowledge or interest in anything - a potential customer turned completely off the idea of an Ultima, fortunately his interest was rekindled by the owners club. Would be good to see some internal "live displays" - a build, an upgrade, technical talks for the non-technically minded I thoroughly enjoyed the day but definitely left with the feeling that if everyone had put as much effort in as the club did then it would have been a whole lot better 3 Quote
