DonPeffers Posted May 21, 2017 Author Posted May 21, 2017 BBC political journalist getting in touch with the voting public https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/3575326/moment-bbc-journalist-ben-brown-pushed-woman-away-by-the-breast-when-she-interrupts-live-tv-interview/ Quote
DonPeffers Posted May 30, 2017 Author Posted May 30, 2017 I have watched some of the questioning of the political leaders where it is impossible for the interviewer to get a straight yes or no answer. The politician simply repeats a tried and tested phrase which presumably has been run by the lawyers to ensure it is ultimately meaningless and there can be no comeback later. In an age when robots are taking over ever more jobs ( ie Dubai police--http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/robot-police-will-start-patrolling-in-dubai_uk_5926e1bfe4b061d8f81fbe86) it made me wonder if any of our politicians would pass the Turing test designed to establish if the answer comes from a human or A.I. Imagine Paxo asking the party leaders the simple question "are you a robot"? Could they bring themselves to give a straight answer or could the likely answer be "I have human qualities".? After today, only 8 more campaigning days to go (thank goodness). I've known many friends and associates being told they must reapply for their current job only to be told they have been unsuccessful or failed a competency test and subsequently sacked with some compensation but less than the redundancy would have been--ie. a money saving scam. How I would laugh if some senior politicians, who have brought about this £140 million waste of money election, did not get re-elected. They didn't need to reapply for their jobs until May 2020 after all. Quote
SootySport Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 I can see why any Non mandated PrimeMinister would want an election. Previous Non mandated Prime Ministers have always been voted out by their own party, Gordon Brown being the last victim. Fair do's to Mrs. May for putting herself up before the country. If she didn't do this then everyone will be condemming her for making decisions when no one voted for her. As for Voting in general, yes we should all put our X in a box of our choice. Just a waste if you 'Spoil' a ballot paper, no one takes notice. The Brexit referendum managed a 74% turnout which is the highest electoral turnout in my memory and I hope the trend continues. As for spending more or less money on the NHS, Defence, Social Bill, Education etc. - no matter how the cake is carved up, the country can't afford it. Only when the balance of payments is positive we can remove the National debt. As it is now, our children & grandchildren will be paying for our pensions & lifestyle for a long time yet. Which Party to vote for? I've no idea but I will vote. Quote
