So with three years left of the Conservative Party's term in power still to run Mrs May has decided she needs a larger majority (or mandate) to continue successfully.

So who to vote for?

Conservative---Theory-- Party of sound money and lower taxation.       Reality-- UK national debt has increased in last 7 years from £1 trillion to £1.84 trillion (£15,800 per citizen to £29,000 each) while NHS, Social care, Education and roads are underfunded. Also tax rises on insurance premium tax and failed rise in self employed income tax and failed cut in family tax credits. Won't rule out rises in income tax, national insurance and VAT.

Labour---Theory--Party of social justice, full employment & renationalise railways and bus transport.       Reality--Divided party, twice in 2 years have voted in a leader the party doesn't want. Party still reviewing defence policy. Hope to fund plans with tax on large corporate tax dodgers (forgetting Britain set up most tax havens).

Liberal Democrats--Theory-- Achieve equal opportunity and equality for all. Tim Farron pledges not to make coalition deals post 2017 General Election.       Reality--Students won't forget Nick Clegg's coalition deal in 2010 to triple tuition fees. Seem to now be a one issue party promising to stop Brexit or withdraw the article 50 motion (forgetting Democrat is in their title).

SNP (in Scotland)--Theory --Want an independent Scotland at any cost.       Reality--Want an independent Scotland at any cost.

UKIP--Theory--Achieve Britain's withdrawal from the EU, control immigration and cut personal taxes for all.       Reality--No experience of Government and no MPs currently. If experienced politicians cannot make the sums add up can UKIP?

NONE of the above--- gets my vote.

Probably best just to snuggle under the duvet as winter gets ready to give us another blast.

Happy voting.

There will be a number of people appalled by the idea, but I'm with you, I've decided to deliberately spoil my ballot paper by writing "No suitable party or candidate available to endorse".  Throughly disenchanted and fed up with politicians and politics everywhere.

You could form your own Party- you'll have time on your hands soon :)

I stopped voting 4 elections ago because 99% of them are career politicians and are as interchangeable as german luxury marque's

But I never thought to write on the ballit paper.

Then again those self deluded fools up top will never get to hear of it and would care even less if they did.

I still say most folk wanting to run as an MP should be put on a register and never allowed responsibility higher than organising a Grand National sweepstake.

Our parliament should be made up via a jury selection style lottery.

And I know there are a few who do it for the right reasons, but they are so swamped by the poisonous majority as to be irrelevant

Rant over...

Labour - got us into this mess, play the media game, inspire nonsense

Conservatives - got/getting us out of this mess, don't play the media game well enough, do little to inspire confidence

Who to vote for? No idea. Green Party said they'd bring in a four day working week - sounds good to me (no fiscal or economical impact consideration!)

Brexit........... it we leave this will happen ....................... if we stay this will happen. Voices of politicians , who actually had no idea whatsoever on how it would shape up and actually still dont !!. I didnt vote as didnt trust any of their manifestos.

This 'election' is where I believe SNP may loose seats as most Scottish people I know are bored of the way halibut is pushing without sorting her own issues and on a power craze thing.

Lib dems............... Fallon who ?

Greens.............. er ...........

UKIP............... cant think who is their leader, but hates burkhas.

Labour............. cant see Corbyn having a sensible approach to actually running the country. People who make a life of working hard , labour love to take your money, so stay on the dole and take the handouts.

Conservatives............... 'probably' the best of the bunch. No I am not a Tory boy, but just looking at it open eyed. No idea who is best for my family though

Obviously everyone has opinions to these things and dont shoot me down, but just as I see it as joe average. By the way I am open to others thoughts without starting an aggressive thread :t-up:

I was told when I turned 18 to vote for what you believe.  If everyone did that that would be democracy.   He then told me he voted green, and some would say it was a wasted vote but not to him as he voted for what he believed in.    The trouble is I don't believe in any of the ideologies of the parties.  Which stumps that complete idea....  But if people don't vote because they think their vote does not matter they should not complain about the outcome.  Be it Brexit etc.   What I'll say I'll not be voting for Corbin.    Not even his own party like him.  But unlike most most party leaders he has succeeded in achieving what he has spent his whole politial career trying to achieve... Destroying the Labour Party!

This is the worst political period we have ever had and I have seen a few. With Brexit, for or against, the will of the people spoke and as a result our politicians have a duty to carry out our wishes. However, some feel they know better and feel the electorate was too stupid to be given the choice so are deliberately trying to derail the process, hence her calling the election as it would then give her the ability to say she has a mandate.

Corbyn on the other hand is a knob, but at least he is a consistent knob and has made himself and his party unelectable.

The Liberals with Tim but dim, are equally unelectable.

Add in UKIP and Greens and the rest, again nothing to see about them.

And that is the problem. People will vote, or not, for the party they feel they should. Traditional Labour heartlands like S. Yorkshire will vote anyone in from labour, same Tory areas and it will be the swing areas that are now in confusion. Who would you vote for when there is no real opposition to the Tories? Between them the rest are hopeless and in opposition are not affective. Any government needs a strong opposition to keep it sensible and we have none and the signs are we will have none going forward.

What is different this time around is the use of social media. My wife's facebook is awash with absolute b*****k* being pushed by the Labour, socialists greens, anarchists, which is rubbish. But if you list down everything that Labour is promising, wow, it is an impressive list but there is no mention of how we will pay, except higher taxes on the rich. That is always popular with lower paid.

So I think the outcome will be another Tory government, with pretty much the same majority, with still no opposition and still too many (like Blair) hell bent on showing the public how wrong they were and making what is already a difficult task, extracting from the EU, almost impossible.

We are in for a roller coaster ride with the economy and social unrest

There is an echo of the US election in ours.   It's not how popular May or Trump are but how unpopular the others are which will control the outcome.  If Trump can get in, having insulted 50% of the population (women) and all the NON White  folk, and still got elected in, Clinton must have been really unpopular! ...  If May gets in It won't be on their stunning credentials, vote winning charm or fantastic plans... It will be that the alternatives are so diabolical... But hay what to I know I'm just a Voter.

"The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. The Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work and then they get elected and prove it."

P. J. O'Rourke

Substitute Labour for Democrats, and Conservatives for Republicans, and it still works.

Just spotted Freeview channel 91 (Front runner) tonight 01 May 2017 at 7pm has Chessboxing involving UKIP MEP Jonathon Arnott versus Lib Dem Toby White so have set the recorder. Never seen this before so will have a look. It's eleven, 3 minute, rounds alternating chess with boxing.

How about settling the General Election with Chessboxing; May versus Corbyn? What do you think the betting odds would be?

I honestly think May would batter Corbyn.

He's too left wing liberal to hit a woman, where as she would drive a stiletto heel into his skull in a heart beat..!

Like the Monty Python Video with Cleese boxing Connie Booth--- only with May taking the Cleese role
