Hi Folks. just joined the WSCC and thought I would say hello. I hope to make this my first of many posts as I am about halfway through what can only be described as a renovation of a 1996 SEiW. My car has never been finished by the previous owners and never been registered or SVA'd / IVA'd. Glutton for punishment? Maybe. Foolhardy? Maybe. Hooked on everything Westfield? Definitely.

I hope to speak/meet some of you at Stoneleigh this year. I'm really looking forwards to seeing how the Carbs to Injection project will finish! That was a great thread to read through, and In all honesty, it was that thread that convinced me to join this club.

Thanks for reading my little introduction, and I look forwards to making full use of this clubs wealth and breadth of invaluable knowledge!

Gary.

Welcome Garry!

Sounds like an interesting project you've taken on, will look forward to seeing the pics. :t-up:

Hope I've done this right. There should be four pics attached to this reply. If i have done it right, the bonnet is not staying in that colour scheme! I have removed the rest of the green stripe, but the bonnet needs the scoop and the stripe removing. may be easier to buy a new bonnet...

:ww: Gary and thanks for joining us!

Looks like your car isn't that far away from completion!  I'm sure it will turn out well. :t-up:

Interesting that the thread that made your mind up to join was the one where the members are helping me spend my money and convert from carbs to throttle bodies at Stoneleigh.  It's rather typical of what a great bunch of generous, warm people we have in the club, very much a happy if dysfunctional family - I'm sure you'll find it invaluable and enjoyable too.

Look forward to meeting you at Stoneleigh :)

Welcome to the club. Nice to see another older car to be coming onto the road for the first time. Best of luck with the build and yes, the bonnet scoop maybe a difficult one for IVA.

The IVA thing did cross my mind, but the main reason is due to it being absolutely hideous! :d.  It is a home made aluminum unit designed to cover the air filter from the original 1.4 cvh engine that came with the car! I never planned to use this set up and had originally planned to replace the bonnet anyway, but willing to keep my options open...

Scott- that's the post! I was amazed by the willingness of other club members to jump in and assist with your conversion and how keen they were to spend your money! Plus, it would have been criminal to have to part with that little beauty! I look forward to seeing it at Stoneleigh. Hope the conversion goes smoothly.

I'd try and get the bonnet repaired. You can use the opposing side of the bonnet as a stencil. Cover in polythene, the opposing area lay some matting with gel, to hold the shape. Then remove the tin tray off the offending side and lay the polythene and buck on the bonnet and screw it on to make a seal . Then from the underside, fibre glass up. Allow to cure and then unscrew the 'buck' You can then fill and finish reasonably and then take it to a body shop and ask them to prep and paint. Older bonnets in good nick will be rare, let alone one that fits the panels already done. You know this bonnet fits . Just an idea.

Awesome idea! The reality is that I don't really have anything to lose with that plan. The bonnet is horrible as it is.

I will investigate fibreglassing further....
