Just got an eye-watering quote from a Honda dealer for a new clutch (£550). Where did my fellow S2000 builders get their replacement clutches?

Cox have one for £350, is this around the right level for an OEM part?

I got a genuine Honda item from Holdcroft Honda for around £400. Call Gareth on 01782 606147 and mention me. He's been in my car and I'm sure he'll do you a good price.

This is the clutch I brought, same site, same price etc etc.................  Its a Genuine Part, well mine was from them

I got all of my Honda parts from http://www.hendyeshop.co.uk . I emailed them and dealt with Simon Kearn. They matched Cox's price on the clutch kit which at the time was £345 inc vat. They were cheaper on most other parts and good to deal with.

Welcome to the world of Honda parts !! . If I had the time, I may have bought a flywheel and clutch kit from the states . But not a heavy duty kit just a mild upgrade one . Luckily I just got a clutch plate from the main stealers for £110 , as the pressure plate and release bearing were good and only 46k miles old .

Don't be tempted to buy an 'uprated' one of ebay. the standard one is more than man enough and the uprated one that i fitted was like an on-off switch.

Fit a genuine one and never worry again.

If you need an alignment tool just give me a shout and you can borrow mine along with the flywheel locking tool.

Its done 3-4 clutches now so it works well.

Stu, I knew you had a heavier duty clutch , which is why I said to get a mild upgrade. Later cars have a heavier flywheel and it should make the car more responsive with an lighter one.

That was just it, It was advertised as a fast road clutch, it was their stage one if you like and it was awful.

Cheap, but awful.:o

The lighter flywheel is definitely some thing to think about though.:yes:

How much weight did you save on the original flywheel ? I was going to look at Helix clutches too, as their plate was cheaper than the Honda one, but the clutch pressure would have been the same as was using the original pressure plate. One thing I would suggest is making sure the gearbox sleeve the release bearing moves on is cleaned and I used wet and dry as wasnt very smooth. This will help with the clutch action as it is quite stiff, but mine is definately feeling easier as I use it.

I saw that one earlier Andy, was quite tempted. £200 saving is noteworthy... although can't help but raise an eyebrow at how they call it a clutch with a Honda stamp rather than just a Honda clutch... Where does that part come from?

Yeah I was a bit dubious with the price etc but thought it was worth a try.

Its now done 5000 miles & going strong.

Not sure where it was made though.

It's like a lot of Ebay purchases, you take a bit of a risk.  Sounds like it paid off for Andy's clutch tho...!
