Type 9 shifter, which way round?

Assuming the the picture looks forward in the car. Do the indent go on the left or the right?

To the right from memory, but you can tell looking at the gearbox opening - the notch has to fit under the shaped block, when you press the gear lever down to select reverse. (The block is the reverse gear detent).
