Recommend me a new car

New 5 series, 530d Touring xDrive...? Might be way over budget but not sure if you intend lease or buy new or used.

A4/S4/RS4 Avant  is a perfect tow car/family car, whatever power level you want.  5 Series Touring is another great tow car/family car as well and great range of engines.

Whatever you  intend buying, check it is type approved for towing with one of the towbar fitting companies.

As sooty and a couple others have mentioned it looks like it's between an Audi Avant and A BMW 5 Series. I'm passing an Audi garage this morning so will have a badgers. Only problem is the S4 Avants are pretty rare, and ridiculously priced :-/

Look at Audi A4 with the 3litre diesel engine, stupid fast. Mind I don;t line the comfort of the S-line seats in them. Had an A4 estate and it was fine, apart from the seats which was why I sold it eventually.

Well I went around the Audi, Mercedes and BMW garages yesterday. Mercedes have a lovely C43 AMG, but isn't rated to tow, BMW have the 3 series tourer, but it looks incredibly plain compared to the outgoing M5, so its looking like a new S4 Avant, specced a car up on carwow, and can get almost £8000 off a new factory build, with my spec, towbar, etc. only issue is a 12-16 week lead time!

Hope you test drived the S4, some say the suspension is a little harsh on them. I had the older V8 S4 and it was ok for me and the mrs never complained.  There again it was heaven driving home towing a trailer after a hard frantic trackday,    Stronic box is the best I have ever had so hope you ticked that box.

Well I've put an order in for a new S4 Avant. Drove the new S4 saloon today and was very pleasantly surprised. Managed to get almost £8k off the list price using car wow and driving down to Manchester Audi. So brand new Audi, all the toys, inc a towbar for less than a 4month old one with 5k miles. Just need to see when delivery date is. Until then I'm going to either purchase a £300 focus from a garage around the corner or a little red lupo gti I've seen on eBay.
