Phil J Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 I am building a prelit that has never been finished. A screen, wipers and washers have obviously been fitted at some stage as witnessed by holes and marks on the scuttle. Having read the IVA manual and knowing my luck, if I turn up for an IVA test they will declare as incomplete and therefor fail it. Is there an IVA compliant screen that would fit, I will consider anything, other types of car, even if it takes modification of my car. I see Caterham do have curved windscreens but have no idea as to whether they would or could be made to fit. Ultimately I want a screen anyway so I might as well do it now, thanks. Quote
Kingster Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 I passed IVA without a screen and can't see how it would fail? Certainly easier to fit things afterwards so why not use some neatly fitting bungs to cover any holes instead. Quote
Thrustyjust Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 I'd fit it afterwards. Negates wipers, heater and various other things. Quote
Andy (Sycho) Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 As said you will be fine without a screen as long as there's no sharp edges. Quote
Simon Marks - North Oxfordshire AO Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Hi, XIs (Elevens) are presented for IVA with a bare scuttle top and a row of 12 (5mm diameter) holes where the windscreen (pre-fitted at the factory) has been removed prior to submission for the test. Simon Quote
Phil J Posted March 24, 2017 Author Posted March 24, 2017 Okay thanks everyone. I'll hide all traces of the original screen fitting (that happened before my ownership) and worry about a screen later. Quote
Kevin (Mr T) Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 Please post some pictures. It would be great to see another pre-lit coming to life! Quote
