Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 To cut a long one short, there is a meeting of cars at Woodhall Spa, LN10 5EX for a terminally ill 19 year old called Connor who has brain cancer. The idea is to let the lad have a look at the cars over coffee and cake at 3pm, followed by an option of taking the 30 minute journey to Skeggy for the 7pm MCSUK & Skeg Outlawz Modified Car Night. Our very own good friend and fellow WSCC member, Andrew Clarke, is providing the venue. Tell your friends, the more the merrier. Is anybody else able to bring a nice car and brighten up Connors day? 1 Quote
AndrewBClarke Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 I'm coming! Oh it's at my house so I better be there! Clare busy making cake. So far we have a 900bhp Merc coming, a beautiful Mustang and Glen & Julie in their very clean shiny British Racing Green Westfield. All welcome to make a good memory for a life limited young man and his family. Quote
AndrewBClarke Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 Before I forget, address is Manor Farmhouse, Main Street, Horsington LN10 5EX. All houses in village have same postcode - we are opposite the village hall and I'll put up the yellow smiley flag. Quote
Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted March 7, 2017 Author Posted March 7, 2017 So far there is a Mustang, a 900 bhp Merc, a Lotus Esprit S4S, a shiny green Westfield and a V8 blue Westfield going to this 'memory maker' not 'fundraiser' event, so it should be a good day. I have invited the Atom that I met at Blyton the other week, but he hit a tyre wall at Donnington last week and it is in for repair. Damn. 1 Quote
AndrewBClarke Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Keely (Glens favourite weather girl) says that Saturday is going to be cloudy with sunny spells. 11 degrees and DRY! Anybody else want to come? Quote
Martyn Vann - Warwickshire AO Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 We are intending to come too Andrew! You can add a red (no where near as shiny as the green one) Westfield to the gathering 1 Quote
AndrewBClarke Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Fantastic Martyn and Sue. Look forward to seeing you. Drive safe. Andrew. Quote

Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted March 10, 2017 Author Posted March 10, 2017 I am just sorting my 'sat nav' out. If you come around Lincoln on the big A46 ring road, pick up signs for A158 Skegness and take that road. Through North Greetwell and where there are the circular '50' speed limit signs with SUDBROOKE written underneath you will see a 'no through road' sign too. That is a right turn and the Cherry Tree Cafe is on that junction. How about we see you there at 1pm and have a light lunch? We are coming from Barnsley, squeak, where we are viewing the, squeak, MX5, exciting, squeak. Quote
Martyn Vann - Warwickshire AO Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Ok, I'll set my sat nav for the Cherry Tree Cafe! Good luck with the MX5 Quote
Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted March 11, 2017 Author Posted March 11, 2017 Sorry, I just need to hog the post for a moment, squeak a lot, and tell you that we bought, squeak, the MX5. I just need to know now how to get the thing around Blyton, novice with a capital N here. It's a good job Barnsley was on the way to Lincoln ( it could be, but not if you live in Chesterfield!). Enough of this, back to the original topic, we met Martyn and Sue for a 'light lunch' light? there was nothing light about it was there Glen? After a laugh and a catch up we went to Andrew's house, where it was time to show our cars to Alex and Connor, and eat cake. I thought that I would eat one of everything and two of my favourite, which was the little chocolate buns with a white chocolate button on top, delicious and thank you to Clare for baking them. Andrew took me for a run in his V8, I have never been in one before, oh the noise is so exciting, so when he offered me a drive the temptation was too much. Andrew is 6ft odd tall, his Westfield has a lowered floor and obviously a V8 bonnet. I pulled the seat forward and Andrew warned me that it doesn't locate very well, at a junction I shot backwards and finished the journey dancing the pedals with my tiptoes, it was hilarious, I enjoyed it immensely and thank you for your generosity, Andrew. Next, a 5 litre Mustang arrived, he used to own a Cobra, but it was not family friendly, so he has swapped to the Mustang. He was keen for a run out in a Westfield so he jumped in with me, Andrew grabbed a youngster and off we went. Wow, Zetec versus V8, we should have filmed it, and I thought Lincoln just had straight roads. I can confirm that my brakes are working well and the accelerator pedal goes right to the floor, it's a good job Mr Mustang is not faint hearted, oh and don't mention it to Glen. It was soon time to head for home and Andrew suggested a different route to the straight, flat one we came in on, Martyn agreed, so off we went. Wow, I have changed my opinion of Lincolnshire, it was very curly. The signs are a bit hit and miss though, some tight bends do not have chevrons on them, and a few switch straight back the other way, we had a whale of a time. It all finished off with a nice relaxing drive on the straight local roads in the dark, with the birds tweeting, on this still and pleasant evening. Thanks everyone for your contribution and lets hope we bought a bit of light into Alex and Connor's life. 2 Quote
