Terry Everall Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Any advice about fitting an induction hob rather than a conventional one at my my daughters house What fuse rating is needed and isolating switch etc. Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Surely it depends on the power rating of the hob. Whats the kw? Quote
Kevin (Mr T) Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Inductions are usually much higher rated (7kw+ is not unusual). Also check the installation instructions re ventilation under the hob, you may need to make a cutout top back of the hob base, unto the void behind, not through the worktop! Quote
DamperMan Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 We made the mistake of buying a crazy power induction hob with the kitchen. Combined with the oven we would have needed either a 10mm2 cable or a second 6mm2 supply. All to much hassle so returned it and the wife came back from John Lewis with a bosche with a 3 pin plug. I thought it might be under powered. But it is much quicker than gas. The lower amperage is supposed to make a difference if your trying to have 3 or more pans all cold and coming up to boil at once. It's rare to do that. 1 Quote
Terry Everall Posted February 19, 2017 Author Posted February 19, 2017 one make is 7kw but the Bosch PIA611B68B apparently just uses a 13A plug and is 2.7W Quote
CraigHew Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Neff T45D82X2 boosts up to 7.2kW hard wired into it's own 30A fused spur (acts as isolating switch) from Distribution box. Fantastic bit of kit. Wifey very happy. Quote
DamperMan Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Not all but some Bosch- neff ones have a max power setting so they might be able to suck a substation dry but... some can be limited in the settings to match what you have. I was only able to ascertain mine was of an older without this feature bycalling the tech only trade line. The public tech advise was wrong. Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Sounds like the convsersations on your recent holidays were just short of torture Quote
