Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Fan switching is an option that many aftermarket ecus provide, not necessarily used that often though. Im not aware if Westfield did or didn't back then, but given how simple their normal fan wiring was, I'd have doubted it - they still don't now, in fact, on most of their cars. You tend to see it more when people have fitted their own ecu's rather than on factory jobs. Even then, it's only a small proportion of people that do it. Quote
Quinten Posted February 12, 2017 Author Posted February 12, 2017 Maybe I've just misunderstood the information I googled on the MBE. Just needed to confirm it before I order the 'zetec hockey stick top radiator pipe' from Westfield as that comes with a 1/8NPT sender thread fitted. Quote
Kingster Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 My MBE setup initially used the sender on the stat for the ECU, the sender on the hockey stick for the temp gauge and a swich screwed into polo rad for the fan. I was never happy having the hockey stick sender as it wouldn't help if the stat failed! So I then used the spare sender I had on the bottom of the stat for the gauge. I will now be using the DTA ECU for water temp from a single sender and may use a relay for the fan if I can be bothered to do so. 1 Quote
