Nick Mace Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Sorry, I can't help with any of the above, but I wonder whether one "service" you could advertise as offering on/from the stand is (for those who have their cars at the show) a high level assessment of the changes they would need to make to their cars in order to make them compliant for the speed series. I have no current intention of doing any racing, but I do from time to time wonder what changes I would need to make and never get much further than realising that it's a bit complex for a novice to get to grips with. I suspect that a lack of clarity on these things would put some people off (especially if there are fewer changes than they expect). Just a thought! 5 Quote
mark.anson Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 Nick Thats a good idea and something I'm the SSOT could look at doing. The reality is though that to enter the speed series as a standard road going car then you can do that with surprisingly few changes to your car. There is a Speed Series Facebook page so there's nothing to stop you posting a few pictures of your car on there (or on here) and there will be plenty of sound advice as to what you will need to do. John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 When is the show? I live only 10 minutes away from Stoneleigh but fear it may clash with an SS event otherwise welcome to my car 1 Quote
Captain Colonial Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Just so you all know, the space in Hall 2 has not been provided to the club free of charge by the organisers, as it had been prior to last year's show. The club is directly paying a four-figure sum for that space, and is doing so solely to promote and support the Speed Series. Therefore it is critical that we get Speed Series cars on stand and granite-solid commitment from the volunteer owners that they will bring their car for both days of the show. In the past, we have had volunteer owners cry off at the very last minute, leaving us with empty stand space, egg on our collective faces and a flea in our ears from the organisers, all of which was most embarrassing and irritating. This is an important one and will definitely affect future Stoneleighs and other promotional ventures if the stand is not filled with Speed Series cars, so your help is not only greatly appreciated, it is vital - thanks. 3 Quote

XTR2Turbo Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 John I am happy to help out answering questions one day and might be able to leave my car but won't be able to confirm for sure for a few weeks as I am waiting to exchange on a house and dates may change. Also I assume people leaving their car on the stand get a free entry ticket same as last time I recall being at Stoneleigh about 5 years ago when wscc cars were parked up along the wall along with sponsors. There was a big stand in front with a marquee that blocked visibility and was not ideal so worth checking the plan !! Also I think other than numbers and stickers competition cars don't really look that different from a lot of road cars. I wonder if other ideas to attract attention and interest? e.g videos playing, driving simulator (there is a chap that is often at Shelsley and he sells tickets for a simulator of you driving up the hill, a display cabinet of trophies, a car on corner weight scales? discounted entry to wscc sprint school if enter on the day, a speed series sticker to take, a competition to win a day at one of the hill climb driving schools (perhaps Harewood, Shelsley, Gurston, Loton or Prescott might be happy to offer at a discount as you would be marketing their events etc etc David 2 Quote

mark.anson Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Unfortunately I'm working so I can't make it, but having a single seater probably less relevant in promoting the SS. JPW/ Rich perhaps an appeal on the Facebook page will attract some takers. I'm Quote
