DamperMan Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 The car manufactures recommend services based on age or distance which ever comes first. There are plenty of cars with over 100 k and under 3 years old rolling though auctions and due for MOT. Thankfully this sort of car usually is a work vehicle and has had regular service and inspections. I don't think it would be unreasonable to say MOT inspection at 4 years or 40k which ever comes first... It would not be difficult to use failure data to specify the mileage on specific vehicles. This would also incentivise car manufacturers to make better cars as they could market 60k Mot's vs 15k mot's on a fiat 500/Corsa Quote
