zei220 Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 I've recently ordered a SDV madza based kit and wonder if anyone has for sale any of the following: a set of shocks front and rear ARBs fuel tank RAC Roll bar 1.6 long nose engine turbo kit for the engine. Anything else you think I may need. Thanks.
Dommo Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 The shocks are different on the Mazda SDV to others as the mounts are further outboard on the wishbones. I think it's four rear ones you need. This also limits the front anti roll bar choice. Confirmed as fitting so far are the Westfield Sport Turbo one and wide track playskool one. Rear anti roll bar hasn't been done yet as far as I'm aware. For turbo - www.reventshop.com. If you're definitely going turbo consider starting with the 1.8 as you'll want a 1.8 sized clutch and diff eventually anyway

I'd reccomend talking to Fraser at Blink Motorsport about engines. he's only. 15 minutes down the road from you. 1
KugaWestie Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 I have a complete set of Westfield Standard shocks and springs from my Mazda SDV if you are interested I also have a complete Mark 1 1.8 engine if you are interested
BenD Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 If you do go to Revent for your turbo kit. There's a long leas time on parts. So if you need it soon order it now. Last time I spoke to him he wasn't taking any more orders until March. But the kit is good quality 1
zei220 Posted December 27, 2016 Author Posted December 27, 2016 Thank you for your replies..... I obviously need to do a lot more research.

You have come to the right place to gain knowledge. There are several of us Mazda SDV owners that have built and then upgraded. Ask away

My turbo manifold was ordered in early October and he should be getting round to making it this week.
zei220 Posted December 28, 2016 Author Posted December 28, 2016 Is the revent manifold the only one which will enable a turbo to go in the car? I've ordered the FW bonnet, does that make a difference?
Dommo Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 It's a 'known'... or at least will be once the current crop of boost junkies have fitted theirs! Currently it's just a 'worked once'. They made one for me and kept the jig, so handily reproducible. I have a FW bonnet and have only encountered fitment issues where I've gone for a bigger turbo. The actuator is mighty close to the bonnet and occasionally rubs. Had no problem with the more common TD04 turbo. I don't know if a ZK bonnet would make it easier around that area or not. Probably very little difference. I don't know of anyone else who's made a turbo manifold for the Westfield Mazda SDV, but they have been made for other seven style kit cars.
BenD Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 I fitted my kit this afternoon I've hit a little snag. Bearing in mind mine is the first Westfeild 1.6 kit that revent has done. The downpipe is about 20mm to low to miss the cross bar that rubs down the exhaust side of the car. Which means unfortunately I'm gonna have to chop the end off the downpipe. Its no problem and I'll let revent know before he makes any more. I can confirm that it fits under a zk bonnet but like dom says it's very close. I've also managed to get a plenum made to enable me to use my jenveys which fits under the bonnet without cutting
BenD Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Don't forget to factor in an intercooler. And a standalone ecu to get the most from your kit Probably better to start a build thread to ask your questions save clogging up your wanted thread
zei220 Posted December 28, 2016 Author Posted December 28, 2016 Good idea, i'll start a build thread under Tech Talk titled Mazda based SDV build.
