TAFKARM Posted December 22, 2016 Author Posted December 22, 2016 Paul....they look amazing but "What's the best place you've been to and why?" Quote
Paul Hurdsfield - Joint Manchester AO Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Russ it has to be Bangaram, it's so remote, 11/4 hr flight from the mainland then another 11/4 hours on a boat across crystal clear waters with turtles swimming alongside the boat, then when you get there it's so different to what we have in the 21st century, there is only one hotel, but it's made up of 'huts' in block of four dotted around the island, there are only 36 of them, so it's never crowded, the walls are made of coconut leaves, there is a tiled roof, no glass in the windows, just insect mesh, no locks on the doors, open air shower with only lukewarm water, only one bar on the beach, meals served on the beach, After that probably Patagonia. But there's loads more places to visit yet, there's a big old world out there just waiting for me Quote
Mighty Mart Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Blimey Paul. You've been to some amazing places and I feel quite embarrassed to say I've only been abroad three times.... You almost look as though you are enjoying yourself in the Grand Canyon shot lol.... I assumed it would be more fun going to these fab spots? Only jesting! Happy Christmas to one and all. Mart. Quote

ralphy Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 Because I've travelled a fair bit (both for work and pleasure) I get asked this question a fair few times, but I struggle to give a 'best place and why' answer. Cities, forests, mountains, seas, deserts; all of these can provide so many experiences and memories. It's in the seas that I'm at my happiest, but even then I'm hard pushed to decide which sea is the 'best' as they are all so different. I've had great times under tropical waters (as you'd expect), but even under ice can provide unforgettable experiences. So I can't make any positive contribution to the where and why, but one thing I can say is that no matter how much you've enjoyed a certain place there'll always be others that will beat it for the top choice!
