If you're talking car mounts, I'd go for a Brodit every single time.  Several mounting options per car model, along with phone specific (or not) holders.

Don't let my grandson hold your phone.  He's brutal on his own phones and broken more than I can remember.

Brodit for sure. You get the bracket for your car and then the cradle for your phone screw the two together amd it sits just right!

Cheers, will look at Brodit. The only thing is I have a case on it for clumsy oafs , so I think it would mean disasembly, which is fiddly , everytime I use the car. How has everyone mounted them to the car, as I dont want to drill the dash,

Brodit mounts are (mostly) non drill mounts.  They normally jam between dash sections, or next to radio's etc.  I currently have a Brodit mount in my Mondeo and when removed, will not leave any permanent marks.

I've got one that fits into the CD slot - good central position, firm fit, good strong springs to hold the phone and quite cheap off fleabay.  Obscures some radio control buttons but I don't use them much.

Thanks for the recommendation, just ordered a Brodit one which will be perfect for my needs, clips to the A-pillar and doesn't block the air vents or centre column controls - will report back.

Issue I have until now is that the phone is uncomfortable in my shirt pocket, rattles if I put it in the centre console, and flies into the footwell under heavy braking or cornering if I leave it on the passenger seat.  I've been putting it under the sun visor, but it's easy to forget there and falls out when you need to use the visor!

I bought myself one of these a while back. Sticks to the windscreen like glue. Just carried my phone from the Midlands back to Ireland with no issues at all. You can move it around to just about any angle you want. Takes a few minutes to get it exactly where you want it but once it's tightened up it's great. Can't complain for the price!

Similar to what I use in Westy. Never fallen off, even when hitting potholes n bumps too fast.

Let us know how this looks and works please!

Try the minivation phone holder, the guy who runs the company is a school friend of mine and a very talented designer. Plus you get to support a new, up and coming British company!

Received it in the post today, the clip itself was on back order but this was explained to me at point of order so no problems.

Comes in two parts, the clip that attaches to the A-pillar (no tools required, leaves no marks) and the phone holder itself.  The centre screw you can see tightens around a ball pivot so you can adjust the viewing angle, and the smaller screws on the left and right allow you to adjust the width of the phone holding wings and lock them into place.

The phone holder attaches to the clip itself with four small screws.  If you look to the right of the right hand phone wing, you'll see two small pilot holes in the clip - there's six pilot holes on the clip so you can position the phone holder left, centre or right of the clip.

The clip slides up and down the A-pillar easily so you can position it where you like within limits.

PROS:

> Easy and quick to assemble and install

> Solid and well engineered, no sticky pads or flimsy plastic, should hold up well

> Works well, phone held firmly in place and at correct angle for driver

> Adjustable to suit preferences

> Location on A-pillar doesn't block air vents or dash controls, less visual clutter on dash, but doesn't obscure view while driving (although too far from 12v socket for most power cords)

> If you change cars, you can just get a new clip and reuse the phone holder, and vice versa if you change phone brands / types, get a new phone holder and reuse the clip

CONS:

> Expensive but as I said, well engineered and solid - this is not a cheap phone holder

So thanks for the recommendation, overall very satisfied and it will save me a lot of faffing about on the road. :t-up:
