Thrustyjust Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 Right, my plan now the Westie is finished, that for my wedding anniversary in the middle of June ( such a smoothie that I am ) I want to take the current wife , as long as she doesnt run off with some young strumpet in the meantime, to Snowdonia . Will probably go on a Friday and come back on a Sunday. So need ideas for Westie friendly nice places to stay. Plan is Evo triangle of course and any other thoughts. We will probably go up Snowdon too, but use legs than the car . Any ideas on this please? Quote
Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 At the bottom of the Llanberis Pass, which you must drive up, is the Victoria Hotel, Llanberis. We stayed there for 5 nights in the Westfield last August and there is a large car park which extends round the back in a quiet area, which is where I parked. Breakfast is good as are the evening meals too. From the front door of the hotel you can walk across the road to start walking up Snowdon on the Llanberis path. Don't forget to share your photo's with us! 1 Quote
Thrustyjust Posted December 14, 2016 Author Posted December 14, 2016 Julie, thanks. Is that the big white hotel on the slight climb out of Llanberis ? Quote
CraigHew Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 There are lots of truely epic roads in and around Snowdonia, you will have a whale of a time. If you do the Evo, try to make it a weekday morning. Weekends are bikes, plod and Eejits. 1 Quote
DonPeffers Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 Not sure you meant to use the word strumpet. Quote
DonPeffers Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 If you type into WSCC search box the words Snowdownia Nant Ffrancon Pass in my Westfield and hit enter you will get a result showing Julie's drive. 2 Quote
Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 Yes it is the big white hotel, not sure about the 'slight' bit . The conservatory and big bay window on the left is where you eat breakfast. Top floor bedrooms are the quietest with the best views. Did I read that you are a cyclist? apologies if it is someone else, but if you are, on the way into Wales you might do the EVO triangle. Part way along is Llyn Brenig, you can park the car and drop your bags in with the friendly guys in the bike hire place. They will look after them for you while you cycle around Llyn Brenig and then finish of with coffee and cake in the cafe that overlooks the lake. Breaks the journey up nicely. Quote

Yup, thats me the cyclist , who did Snowdon last year . No bikes this time round, but know Blaneau Ffestiniog and Coed Y Brenin and Bala etc. I have checked the diary for next year and maybe a Thursday, Friday and Saturday , so free's Evo for weekday, as Craig says. Will enquire about the hotel........ Quote
DamperMan Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 My wife ... pre-wife times booked us in there before going up snowdon the following day. I only remember 2 details. She ordered a liqueur coffee. Meaning to ask for tiamaria she asked for I think it was cointrou. The barman looked supprised but delivered something which curdled the cream. Truely discusting not even I could drink it. Breakfast was awesome and since my wife's a veggy I got double helpings of smoked haddock and scrambled egg. The rest is completely forgotten. Quote
