You know the drill by now, we met at The Wheatsheaf, we, being Trevor, Martyn and Sue, and us. Big Andy? no, he has had his car in bits this week and has run out of M6 bolts to put it back together, la,la,la,la on the muppet show tonight :d

After bacon butties and pots of tea we set off for a slide around the roads north of Buxton. These are possibly the most twisty roads in the Peak District and they are bags of fun to drive. The twists are endless and go on turning right up to the cafe and beyond. Grinning faces soon arrived at the Peak View Tea Rooms where we took in the views before heading inside. The peak in the view is The Cheshire Matterhorn, or officially it is called Shutingsloe and is a good hill to climb if you like that sort of thing, like me. This cafe is reputed to be the highest in England at 1670 ft above sea level, it's very possibly true and I can't think of one higher.

As we were still full from breakfast we just had a hot chocolate each next to the second real fire of the day.

Martyn took this opportunity to tell us about his new teeth that he has installed as part of the upgrades that he has planned for his car next year.

We soon headed back out for another slide around Buxton, past the closed Cat and Fiddle pub and straight into a 'closed road' sign. With no diversion signs in place we headed down towards Leek and cut across country. What a cracking idea that was, why didn't I plan for us to go that way? it is far more scenic than the way I had planned and only about 15 minutes longer. That landed us at our new destination, the medieval bar at The Bull i' Thorn.

Martyn made a new friend

and we tucked into a well earned Roast Beef dinner

Sue had provided yummy biscuits to finish off the day with, thank you Sue. We were straight onto the big A515 and all scattered off home, actually in the light for once. I really don't think I can tempt anyone out next weekend because I think something else is happening, but if it is not raining we will be out in our car on Christmas Eve, although the car loses out to the bicycle on Christmas Day. Well the bike tracks will be empty Christmas Day and it would be a shame not to exploit that fact and Christmas cake travels well in a rucksack. Thank you all for coming today and Merry Christmas to everyone, hope to see you between Christmas and New Year.

It was a bit cool and foggy when we set off but the bacon butties and tea at the Wheatsheaf revived us well.

Great roads on the way to the Peak View Tea Rooms, a bit slippy in places though!

Looks like Glen is telling Santa what he would like for Christmas and Julie is praying to the Pinto power god!

After a cracking Sunday roast we had a few biscuits to polish off. Expected big Andy to help us but unfortunately he missed out.
