I was browsing for some new tyres for the z4 (255/35/18) and black circles do a "black circles quality choice" tyre that according to the rating are as good as the khumo i have on, an need to replace, but cost £30 a tire less. does anyone know what these tyres are and if you should avoid them?

im assuming they are old stock or something?

I used black circles for years but the prices crept up.  Mytyres has been good for my tintop, but the prices may have ballooned as there stock always came from Germany.,    Camskill also but you have to sort out your own fitting.

They seem to have ranges of premium/mid/budget branded as black circles but I'm guessing it will be some unknown brand

Tyre's reviews have to be taken with a large pinch of salt, the people that buy cheap probably don't remember what decent tyres are actually like.

There's no guarantee that they're the same as the ones they were selling last week, so a recommendation or review is worthless.

If you've got a westfield, then you'll drive the z4 like a granny, so go for the cheap ones.  If not, Blackcircles usually have a good deal on one decent make

When I had a Mercedes C63 Coupe which loved to eat rear tyres I went and price checked Black Circles and MyTyres and found the local tyre factor £10 cheaper including fitting, opposed to the others which were supply only. I'd also always go for the branded tyres, if you think you might sell the car on to a dealer/private buyer they may look down on non branded tyres, regardless of how good they perform.

I used to use black circles but also found the prices creeping up - the fact that they were doing "special" deals with Tesco's said a lot (though I didn't find them especially "special"  !! ).

I've used these guys a few times now and they have some good medium / budget tyres https://www.valuetyres.co.uk/

And you can usually check the tyre ratings here http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/
