karlpayne Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Hi everyone, Does anyone know the difference in height of the taller windscreen compared to the standard windscreen? I'm changing an aeroscreen for a windscreen and being a taller chap I wanted to know which one to buy that I can actually see out of! I have attached a picture of the dimensions I want. Any help is much appreciated. thanks Karl Quote
Steve (sdh2903) Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 As far as I'm aware it's 2" higher than a standard screen. My sport turbo screen isn't fitted yet but can get measurements of the glass tomorrow if that's any help? Quote
Steve (sdh2903) Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 And just for info. The taller screen is not available with the heated option. Quote
Olliebeak Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 I did'nt know there were two heights, I always thought my SEW looked slightly odd in this area compared to photos of other cars, it must have the taller screen, I am over 6ft and my eye level is well below the top of the screen, with the standard WSC sport seat. I will get a measurement and post it . Quote
Olliebeak Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 The measurement as per your diagram above is approx 33cm, not using a spirit level just a piece of wood from the top of the screen. The measurement of the screen glass and frame in position is 35cm . I would be interested to know if I can get a lower screen. Quote
karlpayne Posted November 17, 2016 Author Posted November 17, 2016 Thanks for your reply. There are definitely 2 sizes of screen. Being 6ft5 I'm concerned the standard screen might be in my eye level. Hopefully someone will post the height of a standard screen. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 There are two sizes of screen, the taller model was introduced for the Sport Turbo and is still very unusual to see on non-Sport Zturbo models. Note, because of the extra screen height, there are special side screens for it, these are very recognisable by the extra sealing flaps and by the Velcro around the top and rear window frame edges, and the pull tabs on the insides of the frame edges. There is no matching full hood for the tall, screen though, in either traditional of FW bodywork, only for the Sport Turbo, (which is only superficially similar to FW as far as the tub and scuttle go). You could use the tall screen with a half hood though. Quote
bigron Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 Do the taller screens fit the older SEIW's does anyone know? Quote
Olliebeak Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 My car is a 2003 SEW 'Sport' model although I have never known the significance of the 'Sport' designation. From the info in Dave's post it would explain why the second hand sidescreens I purchased some time ago seemed to be too high and short. I had to modify the hinges on the screens to lower them. I would be interested to know the height of a standard screen. Quote
