S2T Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Having read 17 pages discussing the MSA roll bar issue I am seeking clarification I have a Caged Laser cage fitted, with the appropriate sticker giving Homologation type ...MSA-FIA, the homologation number, Id No and Order Number. What I dont have is a certificate Caged Laser (aka Therollcagepeople) have been in administration since January so how big an issue is it not having a certificate in being eligible for MSA events? Thanks Quote
B.RAD Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 None at all, that sticker is the important part. You only need the certificate as back up proof if your cage doesn't have a sticker. I have just run a full season with a brand new caged cage that has the sticker on and it was no issue - never even mentioned by the scrutineers. Quote
Onliest Smeg David Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 I wasn't asked for a certificate at all this year, not heard of anyone that was. Quote
Castlecroft Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 i concur with Dave i too have a caged full cage with sticker... i also obtained the MSA holmulgation certificate that matches the Caged number - this being obtained direct from the MSA for £26 as belt and braces .. (see the blue book) I also have not been asked to produce the MSA certificate (as yet). But i would note that at our first meeting there was a fellow competitor that was excluded due to a non compliant roll bar - and the scrutineers did have a good look at mine - but they confirmed that mine was "how it is suppose to be". for £26 it is peace of mind... and a selling point should i ever wish to move on. Mark (smokey mow) Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 It doesn't matter that Caged are in administration. If you want a copy of the ROPS certificate these are purchased from the MSA technical department. IIRC the fee is around £25. Quote
S2T Posted October 20, 2016 Author Posted October 20, 2016 Wow, thanks all for your quick responses, it has put my mind to rest but think will get the ROPS certificate in anycase Quote

Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Congratulations, an early Christmas this year! Good to see you buying something four wheeled and non-tractor related Quote
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 If your Caged cage has no sticker, Caged will supply you with one. You only really need the certificate for backup purposes if you don't have a sticker or scrutineers ask for it which they are entitled to do if they have doubts. The MSA provide the certificates for a small sum based on the info from the sticker. You may also need the certificate if you are log booking the car for a competition car passport Quote

Castlecroft Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 a quick check via companies house show that the original named company "CAGED LASER ENGINEERING LTD" went in to administration as specified earlier - and a new company "CAGED LASER ENGINEERING (FROME) LTD" is trading at the same address - with the same director .. i dont understand company ways of working .. but i can say that when they fitted my cage (December 2015) they did an extremely good job... Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 A tale for another time, but all very complicated and as much to do with them, aledgedly getting stitched up by another company as anything. Quote
S2T Posted October 20, 2016 Author Posted October 20, 2016 I did phone Caged this morning and was surprised the phone was answered but that explains why. Was told to email their tech man who is back from leave on Monday. I also got a response from the MSA technical people who advised me the cage was homologated for 2 caterham models and again to speak to Caged...how peculiar Quote
