Murraymint Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 Just looking to see if anyone has a set of carpets they don't plan in using...
Quinten Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 Please be aware that not all widebodies are the same. I've tried two carpet sets and neither would fit. Have now made my own carpets at a staggering £5 cost for the material
JulianE Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 There always used to be the type 9 tunnel and mt75 tunnel types , as far as I am aware it was mentioned a while ago that the Factory may have binned the pattern for the type 9 tunnel .
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 There are: Ford chassis: Type 9 tunnel, the smallest tunnel, with widest footwells for driver and passenger. I think this is the same size tunnel as used from the old four speed days, too. (Though the Pre Lit may we'll be different, as well as being a narrow). MT75 tunnel, wider tunnel for Fords bigger T5 gearbox, narrower passenger side to car. Note, many builders bought MT75 chassis, but fitted Type 9 gearboxes, so measure, having a Type 9 is no indication at all of what chassis you have! T5, a throwback to the limited volume homologation cars of the nineties and the insane Cosworth Turbo models, this is even wider in the tunnel, to take the Sierra Cosworth/TVR T5 gearbox Mazda SDV chassis: Sorry, not sure, might be same tunnel size as MT75 chassis though? Rover V8 chassis: LT77 chassis again, like the T5 chassis, a wide tunnelled chassis to take a big gearbox, in this case the LT77 from the Rover SD1 and others. I think, it's slightly smaller than a T5 tunnel. Honda chassis: The widest tunnelled Westfield chassis, based on a T5 with a bit extra room found! Narrow foot wells for both driver and passenger! Sport 250 chassis: Almost identical to the Honda S2000 chassis, it has the same tunnel size. (Just has extra bracketry/mounts for the DBW parts.) Bike chassis: Sorry, don't know! They may be similar size tunnel wise to the Type 9...
Matta Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Phil - I just bought a roll of thick rubber mat and cut it to shape - much better than carpets in our climate! Matt
Murraymint Posted October 10, 2016 Author Posted October 10, 2016 Phil - I just bought a roll of thick rubber mat and cut it to shape - much better than carpets in our climate! Matt I thinking this is going to be the best solution, didn't know there could be so many types…thanks for the comments guys...
Andy_R Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 I've got a Type 9 carpet set being prepared by Westfield. According to parts they haven't done them for a while but still have the pattern. Should get them in the next week or so .... yeah I know what I just said 2
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 AFAIK, it was Cobra doing all the upholstery work these days, but they usually seem to be pretty good. Westfield/Cobra turned my repaire, well recovered Sport Turbo seat round reasonably quickly.
