hawksa Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Just finished wiring my dashboard and then I found the 'Fog Light Switch Control Unit'! It isn't covered in the manual as I assume that the requirement for it came in after the manual was written. Any tips for installation? Is connection to the High and Low Beam best achieved by spurring off the connections to the back of the headlight switch on the dashboard? Cheers, Simon. Quote
Rhett Turner - Black Country AO Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 You could try email Mark at Westfield, I would assume that they have some info on what's required. A quick search found this, it may be different but probably similar. Quote
hawksa Posted October 7, 2016 Author Posted October 7, 2016 Thanks for the link. I will try Mark as well. You could try email Mark at Westfield, I would assume that they have some info on what's required. A quick search found this, it may be different but probably similar. Quote
Nick Mace Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Mine came with an instruction sheet. I won't be able to lay my hands on it (if I even have it now), but I'm pretty sure it was the same as the one in Rhett's link. Quote
hawksa Posted October 7, 2016 Author Posted October 7, 2016 The connection to the fog light switch is obviously straight forward. I'm just wondering how best to break into the High and Low beam connections. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 A Westfields lighting wiring is so simple/basic you don't really need individual hi/low inputs. All the board is doing is checking to see that headlights of any description are turned on. (Sidelights alone don't count) so you can common the two reds together and splice them into the connection between the off/sidelamp/headlamp and dipped/main beam switches. The headlamp output of the first switch won't be on with side lamps, but will be on with either dipped or main beam, giving you the power feed for the fog. Not you need to make sure the fuses for your dipped and main beam circuits are big enough to cope with the load from the fog lamp as well. Quote
