Another bit of advise... Put some oil on stainless threads when doing them up. It prevents cold welding/ gulling of the threads. Stainless is funny stuff!

Also if a stainless bolt passes through a mild steel item... It creates a corrosion cell.. Basically the steel will rust more where the bolt passes and often stick together. It's a common issue where stainless crush tubes in suspension bushes have a steel bolt through. Again the best solution is a dollop of grease :)

I agree about S/Steel threads "cold welding" themselves - I had this on a few fixings when I was rebuilding our Land Rover - and boy are they difficult to get apart once they "weld" - angle grinder was the only way (which was very difficult in a confined space you weren't expecting to have to get a grinder into  )

I've used Namrick in the past (especially for bulk packs) but have found eBay easier when I just want a few fixings for this or that - most are free almost next day delivery but I agree you need to search out the ones with a high level of sales/rating (close to 100% really).

I use these guys a lot as they have a good selection of fixings in various types and grades.

Have a google of Fastener suppliers in your local area, they are usually on light industrial estates and hopefully one near you.    Some do have a minimum spend of a £5 but not all.    I'm lucky and have one 400yds. from my house and can even buy one washer, nut or bolt at a time,  my lowest bill once was 3p for one washer :d.

Other than that the on line suppliers mentioned above are a good source as long as you know the thread size you after.     Another good 'un is 'Probolt'

Deffo orbital fasteners... but on a tidy of the garage today I would advise that buying 100 of each item is not the best idea ... I'm not sure what I will do with 100 m3 nylon bolts
