dombanks Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 So what's the point? I'm sitting here having been forced to accidentally miss the bus (twice) watching the world go by and it seems that 80% of people are missing the point of their convertibles. It's warm and balmy and most of the 3 series types are cruising along with all the windows down, dub step stereo going, why not the roof??? Only guy to have the roof down was a silver fox ... Best part of 80 in a drop top mustang v8! Quote
Steve (sdh2903) Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 See it all the time. Even my shift mate has a hateful megane convertible that never gets used. And all he does is moan it's not as good on fuel as the roof weighs a ton and that the boot isn't as good as a normal megane!! The only time I owned a convertible the roof was down most times it wasn't raining. Bout 3 times a year up here..... Quote
Dommo Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 The MX5 donor to my build had the roof down in all but the most serious rain. You soon appreciated why Mazda fitted a nuclear powered heater. 1 Quote
dombanks Posted September 14, 2016 Author Posted September 14, 2016 I'm not the most roof down person. If I'm going on a motorway for any time it will be up. but pooling around town it's down ... granted I like the windows up roof down in the Z and the doors on the Westy but the other way around to me just seems daft??? CraigHew Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 wife has her SLK roof down on every possible occasion, although she also has her stereo cranked up to 11 most of the time too, so I normally hear the car coming at the end of our street. (she's going through a Coldplay phase too which adds insult to injury). 1 Quote
pistonbroke Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Sometimes its just too hot to have the roof down , Ive been toasted a few times in the westy , notably once stuck in traffic in North Wales A55 , just a T shirt , nothing to keep the sun off , would have swapped it for a nice cool aircon tin top anyday Quote

Don't fool vision of the uk weather trying to make me beleave that sometimes in UK is too hot...It happens... Twice in the whole summer? 30 degrees? You really have to try to work with a vx220 as a daily car during the summer in Barcelona... (I was young, stupid, and too cool) Quote
