Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Meet at McDonalds on the Ollerton roundabout at 9.30 am on Saturday 24th September. (NG22 9DT) From there we will take the short journey to the GBS factory where Ruth has very kindly organised a cars and coffee day, which comes with biscuits, not quite cake but it will do. Tour the showroom, the spares shop and chat to other friendly kit car enthusiasts. Modern, classic and kit cars are welcome as well as bikes. If you want to meet us there go to GBS, Ollerton, Notts, NG22 9ZD for 10am. Quote

Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted September 24, 2016 Author Posted September 24, 2016 Russ is fast becoming the Peak District pin up boy Cake, cake, heavenly homemade cake, this was the best Victoria Sponge Cake that I have ever tasted. This was before the Lemon Drizzle Cake and the Chocolate Cake came out. Dave, what did you do that meant you missed this one? oh heaven. Phew, that was my cake moment, I better talk cars, it is a car forum after all. Having met Andrew and Claire, Russ and Chris and Mo we took the 4 car convoy to GBS where we got the usual very friendly welcome from Ruth and the gang. Lots and lots of cars arrived, people were coming and going, some with goodies from the Kit Spares shop, some dodging into the factory and into the refreshment area. Everyone had a common interest, they all loved kit cars, so there was plenty to talk about. Not everyone was local, the East Anglia Kit Car Club came all the way from, erm, East Anglia and I heard that somebody had travelled from Fife, staying overnight of course. It was a great atmosphere. Hello Dom The sun shone and the event was a great success, thank you Ruth and Co. That took us nicely up to lunchtime, but not before we had a little photo shoot!!! 1 Quote
Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted September 24, 2016 Author Posted September 24, 2016 We went to Rufford Country Park, just around the corner. Glen and I had visited here a few weeks earlier and I thought it looked a good place for the cars to be photographed but I could not get anyone from Nottinghamshire County Council to respond to my request. So I just thought that I would just wing it on the day, and......result. Not this picture, silly Firstly we were escorted down Lime Avenue towards the Abbey ruins Then we were allowed to take the photo's before being escorted back to the car park We enjoyed our lunch sitting outside the cafe in the courtyard before walking around the sculptures. There is also a lake that makes a nice walk round and some craft shops. Chris now has some photo's to submit for the calendar, along with the excellent ones that Mo has on her phone. Email them to editor@wscc.co.uk pleeease. Thank you to everyone for making today great. Next Sunday the TVR's are coming to Chatsworth, so guess where we will be. When I get some idea of the weather I will do a post. Also, we might be meeting on Monday if the weather is OK, strange I know but needs must. Look in the Events section and keep looking, it's all on the weather. 1 Quote
Martyn Vann - Warwickshire AO Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Looks like it was a very good day. We are a bit miffed that we missed the cake though! 1 Quote
Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative Posted September 25, 2016 Author Posted September 25, 2016 I would say that I saved you some cake, Martyn, but cake does not save in our house. But, but, have you been to the cafe in Chatsworth? I don't think we have stopped there as our group of cars. They do a good cake, plus you can get a good dinner there too, so that's it, we will build it into our activities next weekend. TVR's and cake in Chatsworth, what could be better? Quote
