Rose joints or rod ends

Does anyone know what size rose joints to order for the rear of my 98 seiw

7/16 bore x 1/2" shank. Or 1/2 x 1/2 if your previous joints had the little reducer sleeves in the bores (STD Westfield joints are supplied like this).

cheers but how can i tell which is which as I'm no mechanic

You can't tell without taking them off (unless you can see any part numbers) but once off the bore reducer sleeves can be easily seen. If you are buying (or specifying) joints for someone else to fit then go for the 7/16 x 1/2. The 1/2 x 1/2 are usually cheaper and marginally stronger but if you buy good quality 7/16 joints they will be as strong or stronger than a cheap 1/2 x 1/2.

If the car has 7/16th UNF bolts fitted the 1/2"x1/2" rose joints will still need the reducers ( sometimes called top hats )

 Correct but not top hat shaped in our case, just little sleeves.

Or you can buy them without sleeves or top hats. Just specify without top hat, it wears faster
