From Keld you could head over to Tan Hill and go over Buttertubs Pass.

This is my proposed route - might have a couple of takers, will let you know.

Chris, it would be much more fun for you going through Stanhope Ford in the Westie...?

Chris.

If you head to Reeth and then from there to Tan Hill and down to Muker through Keld, its a great road from Reeth over to Tan Hill.

Tan hill was on one of my alternate routes so can easily add it in again :)

The Farmers Arms is where we will be eating.

There is a few spaces at the front of the pub.

However there is also a carpark close by.

I am unsure if it is pay and display or free.

The pub is the brown square in the middle and you can see the carpark to the right and down to the bottom of the picture.

Well that was a disaster avoided. After leaving you (read, not able to get the car going for 40 mins) I decided to go a shorter route into the dales to avoid stopping and not getting it going again. Had a whale of a time but have a very very sore bum and empty tummy for not stopping once...

Well what a smashing day.

Set off at 8.30am to meet Roger and Judy in Driffield.

From here we headed over to Ampleforth via Castle Howard. The roads were standing traffic because of the car show so we diverted.

Just after Ampleforth we came into a group of around 200 motorbikes and the majority of them had camping gear so there must be an event on somewhere. It is the first time I have travelled DOWN Sutton Bank at 20mph. There were just no gaps to overtake the bikers anywhere.

Arrived at our meeting point to meet Guy, Bart and Aaron. Its always amazing to see cars in real life that you only see either on here or in the magazine.

We all left together but Aaron was unable to stay with us due to engine problems. It was great to meet you Aaron and hope you get the issue sorted.

Guy and Bart also carried out running repairs to their handbrake and they managed to sort out the issue.

Great food in Muker where we met with Chris and John.......You can tell they are "ard" up north as I don't think any of Chris's crew know what a windscreen is.

We had some good banter and great food and everyone got on together which is the important bit.

Chris and John said cheerio, and headed north whilst we headed south.

We travelled on a number of single track roads with steep inclines and hairpin bends and all the time, coming towards us were dozens of classic and vintage cars. I thought at one point, one was going to take Buttercup,s wing off.

The last 100 miles were done in the rain but it did not spoil the day.

Great people, great food, great cars and great scenery.

What could be better than that.

Thanks to Carol, Roger and Judy, Guy and Bart, Chris and John, Aaron and.....me  :d for making today a good one.
