The Cheese
Quick one for the experts on here, Is there any specific requirements for a track day helmet or can it be a motorbike helmet
Andrew
Yes, you can use a m/c helmet. Most organisers insist on a full face one for open cars.

TAFKARM
Some people argue that a bike and car helmet are designed for different impacts, but I've not seen any evidence.

Michael Whitworth
As far as I know, the main difference is a fireproof lining for race helmets.
Onliest Smeg David
I was told motorsport supplier, mainly to rallying..... Bike helmets are designed to withstand higher number of multiple hits as rider tumbles along the tarmac. Car helmets conversely are designed to take higher single impact due to driver being restrained within cockpit.
B.RAD
Have a look at sharp.direct.gov.uk Although they only test non-motorsport Approved helmets, it'll give you an idea of what you're buying.
TAFKARM
In other news, and apologies for the thread hijack OP - I was thinking of getting a HANS device and helmet for any further track days. How much do I need to be budgeting if i want to do it reasonably cheaply...
CraigHew
it's your neck and head, I wouldn't do it too cheaply.....!
TAFKARM
Because a cheap HANS is better than the no HANS i have currently.
CraigHew
they start around £250 I think, not up to date on helmet prices at the minute tho
