XTR2Turbo
quite ironic given how much of their state wealth came from oil
Lawrie
quite ironic given how much of their state wealth came from oil and they then burn the oil to make electricity for the electric cars. What are these people on?
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary
and they then burn the oil to make electricity for the electric cars. What are these people on? Interestingly 99% of their Electrical power is made from Hydropower. But their wealth did come from oil. They just spent it much wiser than a lot of other governments !!!
Thrustyjust
Good luck to them. That means potentially no lorries on the road too, so how are they going to move goods ? No visitors potentially driving through as nowhere to buy fuel ? Ironic they will probably still need oil for planes and boats, which plane travel is increasing in the world. Electric cars maybe of the future but its not that far away for them to convert to all electric. All those cars that Norwegians own, which will be worth..................nothing at all. Well done Norway
Rhett Turner - Black Country AO
it only mentions Cars, would be interesting to know about freight, coaches etc. Is electric power for these viable yet.
bigals
I wonder how pure electric vehicles will perform in Norway minus 20 winter temperatures? Could be interesting if you run out of power I'm a snowstorm and freeze to death

Norway is a massive EV user with a far more impressive charging network than we can put together.
Mooch
There must be something about this out there. Norway is a massive EV user with a far more impressive charging network than we can put together. My neighbour is currently in Norway in his Tesla 85. Only worry on power getting there was when he got to the East end of Suffolk. After that....snagless...... Chris Hooper
As I've said before this is inevitable and gathering speed all the time. In time you will trailer your petrol powered Westfield behind an electric SUV ( mabe with self drive) to a track day were you will buy several litres of petrol from a licensed seller. Drive your car and then load it up and waft home in silence behind your electric car. This may seem bleak but it's going to be the future of specialist and historic cars. I would suggest anyone with an interest in motoring to get ready for this and structure there business to expect this.
tisme
"to a track day" .......... providing of course that it'll meet the proposed new EU noise limit of 68 decibels and that the "locals" who've bought their posh houses next to what used to be a fine old motor racing circuit don't have you arrested for speeding or "cruising with other vehicles in a convoy"
dombanks
Personally I'm well up for EV. I would have put my 1k down for a tesla model 3 if I was in a position to have done. I suspect most people are in a position that if there was 100 mile range in all conditions and the ability to charge quickly and conveniently an ev is viable. Just the question of batteries for them. Greenstreak-Andy D
Interesting debate and agree with points raised But...... I just find this really impressive!!
Greenstreak-Andy D
Probably only do two runs max and batteries will need a charge though!!!
Man On The Clapham Omnibus
To quote Benjamin the donkey from Orwell's 'Animal Farm': "Donkeys live a long time. None of you has seen a dead donkey." In this context that may mean the same as Plus ca change... It is posturing; a lot will happen in the intervening years, not least of which will be the passing of the legislators who introduced it.
