TrophyJem
I'm after buying a DA polisher. Any recommendations of what to buy, preferably without spending a fortune. I have a couple of scratches on the door of the tin top I want to try and polish out, plus I thought I could use it on the westy.
dombanks
I got a DAS6 pro from cleanyourcar. Not too much and works great. It's the same as the one I used when I went on a detailing day with a pro
dombanks
http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polishing-machines/das-6-pro-dual-action-polisher/cat_81.html The Maguires microfiber system is great
BenD
Another vote for the das6pro good machine not too heavy. I always use menzerna pads. Are you using it on your westfield or other vehicles. Worth getting a bag to store it in. The hex logic pads although I've never tried them myself have always been rated quite well on other forums. And clean your car that dom has linked to are also a very good company to deal with but you can also try juicy detailing. They offered a few more packages with the polisher
TrophyJem
Cheers for the replies. I'll take a look at the das6pro. Any hints on use for removing a couple of cat claw marks from the tin top?
BenD
always some good info on here guides on how to do stuff and the like. http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/ it depends how you see your car i used to wash and detail my old car once every two weeks. now i dont bother as my car is a workhorse but if your full detailing wash with the two bucket method dont dry it use a clay bar some people say you need clay lube upto you i then wash it again and rinse off dry with a microfibre drying towel then get your polisher out with a cutting pad i use these http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/machine-polishing-pads/menzerna-polishing-pads/menzerna-compounding-pad/prod_1041.html can be quite aggresive so be careful your gonna need a cutting compund to get scratches out i use dodo juice lime prime for light scratches has a small amount of grit in it but not too abrasive that your gonna wreck the car or if you just looking for a decent pick of products you carnt get much betterthan the meguiars 3 step can all be brought from halfords aswell http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/meguiars-cleaner-liquid-wax/prod_101.html http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/car-polish-compounds/meguiar-39-s-deep-crystal-step-2-polish/prod_715.html http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/meguiar-39-s-deep-crystal-step-3-wax/prod_716.html the step one pre wax cleaner has some cutting capabilitys aswell so could be all your looking for sorry waffled on a bit there maybe a bit more in depth than your looking for aswell but you get the idea
BenD
just another thought by the time youve brought all the stuff if your not looking to keep the car detailed you can probarbly frind someone on detailing world who will offer to detail teh whole car for alot less than you will spend on it yourself. if your just looking to remove scratches this can be done by hand witha good cutting compund like farecila g6 but youll need to buy that from the web as i dont know anywhere that i can be purchased on the highstreet except trade paint shops then just polish the area buy hand after cutting. alot cheaper than buying a polisher just for a few scratches just depends what you want to achieve
Kyle
But once you buy a DA and learn how to do a good job you will be impressed and want to use it on everything lol. It's a small outlay tbf considering you can use it on every car thereafter, or anything painted or lacquered you want to remove scratches from and shine up. I've done laptop lids, tv surrounds, interior trim and all sorts. Another vote for the DAS6 btw.
dombanks
I'd agree on the cost front ... pads machine a few other bits and it's going h to be well over the price of a guy to do it but then you have all the stuff. Clean your car are great. I spoke to them for advice on products and then gave a discount!
