Sunny and perfect westy weather

So all day I've been looking forward to driving home in the glorious sun in my westfield. Anyway 5:00 arrived and I went down the factory to push the car out before the back door is shut. 5:30 and 1 second I was out the door... Would it start ..... No... Did it coff or try ... No. It has omex throttle bodies and ecu. I could hear the fuel pump kick in and off. Basically nothing. I removed the top fuel hose a little and it spayed fuel so that was fine. Removed a spark lead it was clean not wet. I tested for a spark.. No spark. I changed the crank shaft sensor as it was as if the ecu didn't know it was cranking. Nothing... Not a fart from the exhaust. After poking about for ages I gave up. Unlocked the roller shutters and rolled the car back in. With the plan of connecting to the lap top tomorrow. I pulled the ecu down from its place. For no reason I looked at the relay which is part of the omex loom, and spotted a red mark. Rust... I pulled the relay apart to find it had been full of water and now rust. I fiddled with it and boom she fired up. The relay and ecu are Jammed up under the dash where it should be dry.

My mistake several weeks ago before the corborough track Day was to tow the westy behind the campervan. The spray off the back wheels simply sprayed the westfield . On arrival the indicaters where half full of water, the foot wells where sloshing about. On the day after a worm up drive it failed to restart but this corrected itself. The few times I've started it since its taken a few goes. Now I can see why. I'll mount the relay tails down in future, not simply cable tied out of the way and upside down.. I had no relay st work so I ended up driving my dull seat home :(

Probably better to drive the Westfield. I'd used a A frame and I think the car is so close and so lined up any spray simply hit the car

Just to add insult ;) I had a lovely drive home in the Westfield, all 40 miles in a t-shirt  Even getting stuck in traffic at the A5 did not bother me as much :p

Better car luck tonight... But hitting the wall or rain at MK was less great... Nether the less still priceless :)

I left 5 minutes early from Aylesbury as the clouds turned very nasty black (and I was in the Westfield again). Turns out that my route home just took me around the cloud and I ended up the whole journey in the dry, to the point where I had to pull over and take my coat off again to make the temperature more bearable.

Have not taken any chances today though ;)

Ha ha... Shorts and t shirt drive to work this morning was awesome... Reinforcing why I wanted a topless car :)... Wish I'd taken it home tonight . But I do need to cycle to work at least once a week to sustain my unhealthy diet and avoid expensive car light weight upgrades.
