Some more MSA change proposals...

https://www.msauk.org/The-Sport/Regulations/Proposed-Changes-for-Consultation

Not looked closely yet, but thought would post link asap so that if there's anything as silly as some of last year's they can be challenged sooner.

Good spot Dave - and highly frustrating that I signed up for the new email alert, and haven't received an email!! No good news - no positive changes to ROPS or tyres that affects us.

Check these out carefully!

No methanol on forced induction cars bans the current cars used by future champion Will Hall, and also Nick Algars Busa. They say excess horsepower is the problem!!!! Who the hell writes this sh**. Are they BLIND? The future engines of choice are going to be forced induction, just look at the road cars being developed. Why ban a fuel for creating too much power???? Next they will ban forced induction, then put a speed limit on events....

Glad I don't have Will Halls car as should this ridiculous regulation get in then his car is worthless!

Rant over for now, but I have only read two of the proposed changes and I think the first might affect a lot of libre cars too

Also intentions to use a 1.7 multiplier rather than the 1.4 for supercharged or turbo cars

Following last years changes we have had a 63% turnout compared to 2015 at the same 15 events we have attended and thats not good news

So in the one consultation document regarding regulation 10, the msa want to:

increase force induction equivalency to 1.7, forcing just about every forced induction car into a higher class than its currently in, then take away the use of Methanol further reducing that cars power output. So you end up uncompetitive on two counts, with a car that's worth less, or, you pay more money out to make it competitive by changing the engine to NA, and as we all know going slower isn't an option, so more power is needed, oh, but now your NA you can run Methanol to get more power. It is worthy of note too that the current breed of road car is petrol not diesel, and forced induction, meaning that these engines are likely to be used in road-going specialist prod cars in the future, not to mention in Formula Fords which are now finding there way into H&S.

From my vantage point the MSA reason for banning methanol on forced induction cars on the grounds of increased horsepower is ridiculous at best. All this will do is make competitors spend more money (in the quest for NA horsepower), not make the sport safer. I see no reason for the change.

Though this may not affect you directly, can I urge you to respond to the MSA  at SpeedConsultation@msauk.org if for no other reason than the change makes no sense and will adversely affect the sport by reducing competitor numbers.

It is interesting to note that of the 8 reg changes proposed 5 are put forward by the speed committee.....over zealous perhaps
