Kingster
Indeed! Never had issues with water in footwell just the seat. Still need to figure out the best way to get holes in a JK seat with padding.
Andy - a15cro
I got a couple of holes in under the back edge of the padding but it won't stop the pooling effect only an overflow!

Pistol Pete
Sounds a great trip, really really want to do the alps one day. Chris, for future navigation you need to download TYRE (trace your route everywhere) which is free and get an old tomtom xl classic off the bay. You can then plan your route in tyre/Google maps like you have and load it as for waypoints into tomtom. Postcode navigation in France only takes you to the centre of town. Here's an example of a route http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic/93814-essex-blat-routes/#entry947944 I have used this navigation for 3 road trips and various local runs out. As I'm sure Richard Cable will testify you just need to practice before hand and know when/how to delete waypoints. If you don't you will be directed in circles until you got it - which is kinda hard when oned been accidently places in a field!!
Kingster
Pete - too late, bought a Garmin Zumo 390 - so the investment has been made! The reason was my mate (who does many 000's of miles on business and in Europe) uses one on his bike and has all the knowledge I need wrt loading maps/routes/waypoints/etc and has a cloud account I can use to up/download them all. Will look at TYRE though - and you can also use MotogoLoco for route planning. If only I'd had this BEFORE we left! Anyway - was all part of the adventure and makes for better tales once home
Pistol Pete
Yes, always wiser after the event and as you say adds to the fun along the way The waypoint file *.itn (TomTom) and *.GPX (Garmin) are actually very small files, for a four day trip we had a file preloaded onto the tomtom for each morning and afternoon - so 8 files into total. Cant stress enough about a bit of practice - trying to work out whats up and how to delete a waypoint on the move is very difficult once you start getting frustrated - ask Richard Cable!
