There is a 60 vehicle car show within the Moira Canal Festival in Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire on Sunday 22nd May. It opens at 10am and costs £7.50.

Can meet somewhere nearby and at least have a mini car show in the public car park, I can take my flag and I am desperate to wear my new T-shirt.

Anyone up for it?

Ok Julie, what about meeting at the McD's, junction 12, A42/A511 around 9.15am for a quick cuppa before the 15 minute drive to Moira Furnace.

The forecast looks ok so anyone else going to join us?

McD's at 9.15am A42/A511 it is then, brilliant idea Martyn :t-up: . Ian and Pat Molestrangler are meeting us later too.  :t-up:

Apart from the 60 cars on show (model T's, stags, imps, TR3A's, Esprit's, TR6's, capri, morgan and moggie thou's etc) there is a fly past by a Hawker Hurricane, unicycling, juggling, escapology, comedy, magic, re-enactment of American civil war, farmyard animals, owls, parrrots, duck race, canal boats with horse, dancing and music.

If that doesn't tire us out then, when we get fed up, we might have a drive round and find something more relaxing to do, like eating some cake somewhere. Weather forecast is tonnes better than the rain of today too. We can pick up the A515 and drive back home through the Peak District, great, looking forward to it.

Stu, I have not just read that have I?   :( your car, at my little car show, oh the thought makes me weak at the knees, another time then, huff,

We met at the services and Paul was waiting for us in his VX220, we were soon joined by Martyn and Sue and we went for a brew.

We took the short journey to the canal festival, Paul had just made a fleeting visit so he peeled off as we turned in to the car park. I like the look of the VX but it wasn't until it filled my rear view mirror that I realised how spicy they look, especially in yellow on a sunny day.

We set out our very miniature car show in the car park

We went off to have a look at the larger, proper car show within the festival and we bumped into Ian and Pat, who had come in their Westfield too.

There was a kit car on show, this Robin Hood 2b, I thought, I know that car, Dave Perry has just sold it, it has a Jag engine.

Plans had changed and the fly past was to be by a Dakota, it came past 3 times and sounded sweet as a nut, it was worth coming just to see this

It flew very low and even the commentator said how lucky we were to get such a good fly past

We went back past the Robin Hood and it's new owner was now stood with it, with the bonnet up.

Andi from the RHOCAR club was there too. The new owners, Dean and his wife Nicky were very pleased with their new purchase and were proudly showing it off. They had booked 4 slots in the show but no-one else had turned up, so maybe next year we can all get together and make a proper show.

It was nice and warm today, not quite hot enough for T-shirts but we managed to briefly air them for a photograph, I know what you are thinking, who invited flamingo legs!

The need to escape a canal festival overcame us, so we went for a little drive to The Cooper Arms, Weston-on- Trent, where the car park was adorned with TR6's. I followed Martyn because I had no idea how to get there, has anyone told him that he is no longer on the track at Curborough? Chevrons, on what was clearly a 90 degree bend, I thought he will brake, he will, he will brake, he's leaving it a bit late, ooh he's gone round, here we go. They go round though don't they these things? He did later admit that he regularly takes this road to the Derby/Notts meet and knows it well, but he can't half drive it.

Apart from the fact that I seem to need a guardian with me to avoid an accident or a breakdown, it is a good job Martyn and Sue keep turning up because I would not be writing this and you would not be reading our story without them, the pictures would be a bit naff too. So three cheers for Martyn and Sue.

It was a bit last minute, thanks to the weather, but in the end it was quite a social gathering and an enjoyable day.

We found our way home in the end, I was a bit previous in my turn off at the big roundabout, my fault, but thanks, Martyn, for putting me in the right direction.

It rarely gets warm enough, I do remember once being at Blyton with Barry and Andrew. Barry looked at me and said 'Julie, you are not even sweating' as he was melting on the spot. The temperature that day was just right for me, it was about 3 years ago.

White cloud on the forecast for Saturday, goody, goody
