rhys_himself Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 I guess I'm technically not a newbie (on my second Westy...Since July last year!) however I'm certainly no expert so posting here for a little advice please? My cars performance FAR outstrips its safety and so I need a new rollbar. Decided MSA was the way forward as although RAC are easier, I'd prefer to have the knowledge that it's racing standards compliant hanging over my head (literally and figuratively). Plus...it'd be a dream to race her one day. So I'm after an MSA bar which I can quickly(ish) obtain, and put a nice half hood on. Does the PlaySkool MSA bar work with the Soft Bits "MSA Caged" bar, and if not, where can I get a bar that DOES work with it please? As for the soft bits hood-is the Westfield show the only place I can get that channel from? Am I better pnying up extra dough and going for all Westfield sourced bits? I assume that'll take a lot longer to make to order? TLDR: Does the PlaySkool MSA bar work with the caged MSA Roll bar? If so, anyone selling one?? Thanks, and thanks for being the most awesome stand at Stoneleigh, by far. Quote
D7PNY Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 I had a playskool msa bar on my Westfield and can confirm that the Westfield 'msa half hood' works a treat with it. Cheers, Dave Quote
Marto303 Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Yeah I wouldn't get to hung up on MSA spec, its all a load of tosh If you have an RAC spec roll bar and your using it for road or track day use then your fine as you are. If your competing in MSA governed events you"ll possibly have to comply or may be not all depends on the scrutineers on the the day. My advice at mo is stay as you are ! But then what do I know, I just follow MSA regs and get shafted every time ;-) 1 Quote
Mooch Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 The PlaySkool bar is made by Caged. And as D7NPY says, it works a treat with the Westfield half hood. Had cause to use it in a torrential downpour today and was impressed with the protection it offered. Quote
rhys_himself Posted May 19, 2016 Author Posted May 19, 2016 Guys I really appreciate the response and apologise for not having notifications set to email- so I missed 'em all and have been flailing around trying to source a bar from somewhere! I'll stick with MSA because I slightly prefer it over RAC in looks, height is attractive for headroom, as well as just a tad more peice of mind. I'm not intending on eventing (yet)...but just in case I do it's nice to have the right bar that's at least slightly more likely to pass! Looks like Caged Laser are definitely the right people to go to- cheaper than Westfield, quicker, super helpful and friendly, and just down the road from me. Definitely buying from them Onto Westfield for the hood and I'm set! Thanks all Quote
