Gary Taylor
Had a great day out today , a little misty when I left home and headed for the lecht , met David up there and took some photos, from there we had a good run to tomintoul , coffee stop, came out and car wouldnt start , a loose earth wire on the battery clamp, soon sorted and we were on our way, over the "brig o broon" and then the back roads to cairngorm, David leading said he could hear the supercharger as we climbed the hills Then up Cairngorm in glorious sunshine, lunch on the ski center verander, quite surreal really as we were driving open cars , lunch in the sun and folks going skiing .......... So a few pics just below the car park and at loch morlich, back along the back roads to Grantown, topped up with fuel ( she is a thirsty gal when you play on the hills in 3rd and 4th...lol) then we said our goodbyes and headed for home. All in all a great day out with great company, great weather and great roads. some pics of our day here http://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/index.php/gallery/album/817-over-the-mountains/ as I cant put photos on, I got some video but goofed with the camera and missed the best bits, guess we will have to do it again .. lol Gary

Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative
The last picture is my favourite with the snow covered mountains and the lake in the background, it could have been taken in the Alps. As Geoffrey said, thanks for posting them Gary.

David-hrv
As Gary said, a fantastic day out yesterday. Really enjoyed it, and the sound from Gary's supercharger is awesome! It sounds like a monster coming from behind! I want one! The sun shone for us and it was weird to be sat in the very warm sun on a snow capped mountain having lunch. It was the last weekend of the season for the skiers, so they were all out for a last run before the summer. Seriously, I now have severe facial sunburn (which is not good with my Vitiligo), but it was worth every minute. The roads around here are fantastic and the views are to die for. Julie, it really is like the Alps! Who needs a European tour? (They won't let us over the channel anyway after next month, so you'll all have to come to the Highlands!). Gary, it was great talking with you. Really enjoyed your company and I hope we'll have many more meets like this one. I'm now seriously thinking about the Ballater trip this next Sunday, so we'll see, I haven't been through all my video yet, but it seems, like yours, that the camera was very selective about what it recorded. I was having power issues to it all day, so it skipped sometimes, but I'll double check. Geoffrey, you won't be disappointed when you come up here next month. I'll get to meet you a couple of times during your trip I'm sure.
Gary Taylor
a couple of clips going up the top of the lecht from the north and looking south as we park at the end of the clip, and then heading back down the north side towards tomintoul, 22% gradient coming up the south side and 15 - 20% on the north side
