richiekuk
Hey all. Great forum you have here. I am looking to buy a Westy to scratch my track car itch again. I've owned a few track cars in the past, but never a Westfield. The closest I've had would be my Fisher Fury. It was a BEC, with a 5VY R1 engine. I'm hoping to find a nice CEC, more track oriented but good for fast road blasts too. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions to start with whilst I try and narrow down exactly what I want. I'm 6' 2" and 15 stone. So a Wide body would be the best I think.

Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
Welcome' You might just fit a narrow, but a wide body car will give you many more options when it some to seats etc. And it just gives you that little bit more room to wriggle around in and get comfy! AndrewBClarke
Are you in Lincoln (Lincolnshire) or somewhere else. We are 20 minutes from Lincoln and have a Wide body Seight which you can have a sit in. I am over 6' and fit in easily - mind you I have a 'lowered floor pan'. Contact me if you want to try. Andrew Hi. I am sort of split between Lincoln (Lincs) and the NW (where I work during the week). I get over to Lincoln sometimes as my GF lives there and the house I'm selling is there. I see your in Horsington. I use to work at Coningsby and my old Fury used to live just outside Horncastle. My friend has a SEIW, but with standard floors, he JK composite seats floor mounted. And I really struggle with the proximity of the wheel to my knees. I would like to try the lowered floor. And think i'd also look to raise the steering wheel as well, as I like a nice high wheel (chest height) I'll give you a shout next time I'm over there, thanks Edited April 26, 2016 by richiekuk

richiekuk
Are you going to Stoneleigh at the weekend to have a look at all the cars. My plans have now changed. And I could possibly make Stoneleigh on the Sunday. Should I just find the WSCC bit and make myself known?
Rory's Dad
The relationship between seat, steering wheel, the bottom of the dash and the pedals is critical. There are many ways of resolving this and you WILL be able to get yourself comfortable.

Absolutely, you'll be more than welcome, and it's a perfect opportunity to see lots of different Westfields - should be a few with JK seats there as well. If you can catch their owners, most will usually be more than happy to let you try them. The relationship between seat, steering wheel, the bottom of the dash and the pedals is critical. There are many ways of resolving this and you WILL be able to get yourself comfortable. Absolutely, one handy spin off of the way she'll seats "work", (one of the main ways they get you lower in the car, is by sort of rotating your body so that your head and shoulders are lower and further back, while your hips are further forward and your knees are raised up slightly), is that many often need a spacer on the steering wheel to bring it back to a comfortable position. This has rather added advantage of moving the wheel closer past your knees and upwards at the same time. But even without that, the angle of the column can be tweaked, or some use D shaped, flat bottomed steering wheels. As Martin said, lots can be done. richiekuk
Great stuff. Thanks for the replies guys. I shall look forward to it. I like the idea of the more reclined seating position with the wheel spaced out to clear my knees. Hopefully I can have a look at quite a few and get a feel of what is right. I am in no way afraid to modify whatever I buy to fit me. That's all part of the fun right!

A few, well 3 of us in westfields will be doing a mini-convoy from Newark McD car park on Sunday morning, if you would like to join us then I'm sure an extra wouldn't be frowned upon, but don't expect us to be doing 100 mph ! Cheers Ian
AndrewBClarke
Ian - what time on Sunday? Planning to go but don't know when yet and company / convoy may make me make my mind up! Is Newark like Lincoln with several McD? If so are you meeting up at the one by the roundabout next to KFC? Andrew
