Ouch! Hit on the bum

My poor, beautiful baby, she got hit on the back side today  .  I have damage to the rear wheel arch and rear wheel. A VW Golf had been flashed to come out of a side road in Buxton and just went, clearly he did not look forward or he would have seen the front of my car. By the time he came out he managed to hit my rear wing.

 

 

I am not sure if any damage has been done to the chassis or if it has knocked the wheel alignment out. Good job I was not on a motorbike or it would be breaky leg time.

 

I will be in touch with A Plan on Monday, has anyone got any experience or advice on accident repairs, is there anything specific that I need to know?

Ah no Julie! Sorry to hear your bad luck

I had Westfield repair mine when I damaged my first Westie

I agree, you should check suspension alignment if you suspect the golf hit the rear wheel. Any marks on your wheel or tyres? Always better to replace rose joints and wishbones if there is any evidence of marking your wheel

Check chassis with straight edge rule too

If it's just the rear wheel arch, assuming it's detachable it's an easy repair, but I would insist on an alignment from insurance

The factory is an option for repair, or a specialist, as long as it's someone who knows what a Westfield is.

Really sorry to hear this Julie, just glad you weren't hurt.

Call A-Plan first thing and let them handle everything. You can call the factory as well and get a part number, price and delivery on a new arch if you like, ready to tell the insurers.

A bit more bad news - brace yourself for two years of annoying text messages from scumbag injury lawyers telling you to make a claim. I'm afraid it goes with the territory these days.

What a shame, but the bodywork does look repairable.

Had a similar thing on ours many moons ago. Complicated by it being the old 'Kit' bodywork with rear arches an integral part of the tub. It was only bodywork damage, no involvement of the suspension and in the end, we went with a local repairer and had it sprayed.  We did get a quote from the factory but it was basically an entire new body and the insurance baulked, partly because the gelcoat on the car was already in a poor state so they argued 'betterment'.

 

We stumped up for a new screen, pillars and roof and took the opportunity to swap from swept to cycle wings, so it ended up as a cheap refresh in the end.

 

Hope you get a good resolution without too much stress
