Andy - a15cro Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Im just about to press the button on some new rubber and R1R's are the order of the day. I'm replacing like for like so 205 50 15's are in the basket, but is £80.59 per corner about the right price? Quote
SootySport Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Haven't seen any cheaper but I would try my local independent tyre dealer for a price. Don't forget to factor in the cost of fitting, balancing, old tyre disposal if buying on line. Was cheaper by £5, a set of 4, for me at my tyre dealer. 1 Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Yeah, local tyre places have been getting increasingly pee'd off, (understandably), at people buying online at discount prices and then expecting to pay a pittance for fitting. You may be lucky, and have somewhere they you're already a good customer at, who will do them cheaply, but don't be surprised if you go somewhere new and they want £40 or so for a set of four wheels, plus weights and disposal of old tyres (if appropriate). SootySport Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 £40 is the going rate for fitting 4 x tyres around here, however I did find a fitter who does them for £30. I have used both methods of buying tyres, gotta save £'s and pennies for retirement. Quote
Andy - a15cro Posted April 17, 2016 Author Posted April 17, 2016 I'm ok on fitting, I've an account with a company for my vans so they will look after me on that side. Quote
Dodgey Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 I pay £40 for four tyres fitted and balanced round here. Cash. Look for independents. The chains pretty much tell you where to go. One quoted me £35 a corner for my winter tyres on my Disco... When I bought my R1R's I went to three of the chains - Bridge Tyres (they are not a chain maybe?), National, and Halfords, and they all said they don't supply "race" tyres and I should buy them online (as I had to with my Disco AT tyres). Makes me cross that they then get the hump when you ask them to fit them. I think £40 is pretty reasonable money for 30 minutes work (I supply my wheels off the car, nto that that saves much time for them) Quote
