Kitchen door Eurohinge has stepped threads in cupboard uprights

The normal snap on kitchen unit hinges on my daughters house have come loose

The blind grub screws that hold the backplate on the side of the unit have stripped the wooden threads

Anyone got a simple repair? I wonder if a wood filler will be ok ?

Thanks

A couple of matchsticks with PVA often makes a good repair for screw holes

Terry if the units are side by side, so you have two gables together just stick a couple of 32mm woodscrews in.

re-drill the door 35mm blind hole, and relocate the hinge, then refit the backplate into fresh carcase, use a blank to cover existing hole in door... easy peasy....

How do you red rill the large hole for the part of the hinge that is on the door?

It is an end unit Paul so I cant use long screw

Is it a very visible end Terry?

Can you drill right through and put an M6 machine screw through, perhaps with a mushroom head on the outside.

I not a fan of any of those fillers, they may work for a while, but the hinge fixings will come loose again in chipboard.

If your going to move the hinge you need a pillar drill and a 35mm blind hole cutter.

You can do it with a router if you've got one and you know what you are doing.

A few good ideas for me

Those plates look interesting!

Used those plates on my kitchen doors, work great far better than original screws etc,  they will even stand up to teenagers leaning on the open doors!

Ooh not seen those before, they look like they should work.

I have ordered a pair as design looks practical
