Greenstreak-Andy D Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 A couple of photos for you, any ideas what this is? Hope the photos work! Andy Quote
Stu Faulkner Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Wasn't this called the Topaz? Also known as the XEI Quote
Quinten Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 If you're going to do quizzes, you have to put a little bit more effort in hiding the originals Quote
Greenstreak-Andy D Posted April 7, 2016 Author Posted April 7, 2016 Blimey that was a quick response! I didn't find out the name but yes XEi is correct! Took family to Black County museum today, about 10 min from Westfield factory! Really very good, we all had a great time Was talking to one of the knowledgeable engineers, at a grand age of 85! Who let me take a couple of photos Apparently a one off prototype that never made production Here's a photo taken from back.... Quote
Greenstreak-Andy D Posted April 7, 2016 Author Posted April 7, 2016 Your too good for me guys! Well done I hadn't seen this before Anyone know any more about it? The old boy told me it was rear wheel drive, XR3i engine and box, shame the family dragged me to the next bit of the museum, would have liked to asked more about it Andy Quote
Stu Faulkner Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 It does have an XR2 engine. I think there was only one made in the late 80s and did appear at Stoneleigh. Quote
Welly Jen Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 I asked about the Topaz a couple of years ago after spotting it lurking in a corner of the car and bike section of the museum looking a bit unloved. This is what Mark Wendon had to say. The Black Country Museum claims to display examples of cars and bikes built in the area, but only has one Westfield and an obscure one at that. Anyone willing to donate their car? Would be a nice thing to put in a will. Westfield is the biggest car builder in the area now and must be quite far up the list of local builders historically too. Greenstreak-Andy D Posted April 8, 2016 Author Posted April 8, 2016 That's interesting Jen. Agree Westfield is the last one. Always surprises me how many small car manufacturers there were in the Midlands in the 20's 30's 40's and 50's. Anyone know this one.... Quote
Andy - a15cro Posted April 8, 2016 Posted April 8, 2016 Is this at Bridgenorth? I can't believe I've just had Easter Bank holiday there in a cottage and didn't even know it was there! Quote

You maybe thinking of Blist Hill near Ironbridge? http://www.ironbridge.org.uk/our-attractions/blists-hill-victorian-town/ This vehicle was at the Black Country Museum in Dudley, about 10 min from Westfield factory in Kingswinsford. https://www.bclm.co.uk Andy Quote
