dombanks Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 has anyone had any experience with USPS? I've ordered something from the USA and its been shipped with USPS. the tracking has said it's left Heathrow and is in transit. I would like to contact them (or who ever it is here that's carrying it) as i would like to know if i need to pay any customs duty. My problem is its going to Liverpool not Leicester and there is no one there for 3 weeks other than a quick visit this weekend. I was hoping i could pay the duty and collect it from the distribution warehouse its this weekend. Quote
Valentinik Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 USPS will be delivered by royal mail/parcelforce. They will send you a letter when it has arrived at your local depot asking for the import duties, which you'll have to pay by going to the local office and collecting or paying over the phone and they will deliver it. Hope this helps. Quote

Valentinik Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 If you've got the tracking number, i tend to phone them up and ask them what the charges are, normally they will tell you. You will be able to put the usps tracking number into royal mail/parcelforce to find out what depot it is at. Mike Quote
pistonbroke Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 I would keep shtum until it arrives , they often overlook the duty if its a small or insignificant item as its more trouble than its worth . Quote

I doubt there is much you can do unless it is obviously a gift or something. As an aside the lady at the royal mail was very helpful given she could do naff all other than tell me its in customs. Looks like a quick trip up the M6 will be happening one night. Quote

Mike they can only tell you that once its been processed by customs. after that yes you can phone and pay. tracking can be done via the usps or royal mail site. or so the nice lady said today Quote
