Cycle wing brackets help please - photos now added

I've bought a pair of cycle wings:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231870375290?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

But after offering them up to the front wheels/suspension I am baffled as to how they are supposed to mount as I cannot see any way that they would! Hopefully the sellers photos will give some info as to what the problem might be.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Are you sure they are Westfield brackets?

What uprights have you got?

Photo may help.

From my admittedly very limited knowledge of Westfields they don't like any fitting i've ever seen.

They certainly don't look like a Westfield bracket to me. As they haveni't said in the advert I would ask the seller which uprights he had fitted to his westfield as they could be designed for either cortina, westfield fabricated, westfield alloy, sierra or mazda.

The seller is also selling a rear wing, this time he does describe it as "Westfield like"', I think he really meant Seven like, it would appear to possibly be from the same car as the cycle wings. Whatever it was, it doesn't look like it was a Westfield.

Seller looks like a breaker.

They look, after a bit of Googleing like Mac#1 cycle wings, with stays for Sierra front uprights. The sleeved mounting point on the box section tube would be secured to the pinch bolt that holds the mushroom in the top of the upright, the other leg, I think, picks up a calliper bolt.

Thanks all.

I don't have anything to compare the brackets to, mine has swept wings so am looking to change over. Ignorant of the fact there is more than one configuration of front wheel assembly, I'll need to see what brackets I do require now.

Perhaps someone could help me in finding what brackets I need?

Here's a couple of pics of my set-up:

You've got original Ford Cortina uprights.

I believe Tiger uprights are a popular alternative to the factory Cortina uprights.

If I remember right, they bolt on to the old dust shield holes on the Cortina uprights.

Thanks very much, Dave.

Before I start searching, do you think rednop’s ones for sale would be compatible?

rednops are for the westfield aluminium uprights so wont fit your cortina uprights.

Those are for the aluminium cast factory uprights, I'm afraid, not Cortina ones.

OK, I wasn’t aware of what the aluminium uprights are, but have got it clear now as to what I’ve got.

As the Westfield Parts shop is out of stock of the Cortina ones I’ll try the Tiger uprights if nothing pre-owned comes up shortly.

Thanks again.

The Tiger ones seem to be a bit more robust, also, as they use the three mounting points for the (un-fitted) dust shields, they're easier to fit.

The Westfield ones share one mounting bolt with the brake callipers, and are then held in place by the upper ball joint. However to do this, the iron upright needs a small modification. It can be done at home with a grinder - with care, but just wanted you to be aware, in case it influences your descision.
