Ianboom Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Apologies if it's a stupid question but I did a search and had no joy. I'm hopefully ordering my Westfield tomorrow, but want to look out for a few parts to keep costs down. Are all new Mazda SDV cars widebody? I want to start looking for a heated screen and rollbar before I commit and buy new! Thanks Ian Quote
Dommo Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 All Mazda SDVs are widebody and so the heated screen and rollbars are interchangeable with other SEIWs Quote
Ianboom Posted April 1, 2016 Author Posted April 1, 2016 Brilliant, cheers! Hopefully, somebody is swapping to an aero screen! Only question now is white body with black arches, or orange! Ian Quote
Andy (Sycho) Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Brilliant, cheers! Hopefully, somebody is swapping to an aero screen! Only question now is white body with black arches, or orange! Ian You can leave ordering the body until you are ready for it, I did as I couldn't make my mind up. But I still um'ed & ar'ed when ordering it. Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Ian, there's actually very few parts on a Mazda SDV that are different to the current wide body cars. Other than the obvious donor Mazda bits, it's only the suspension and some steering components that may differ as these were redesigned for the Mazda steering column and uprights. The first Mazda SDV's we built in 2006/7 so as above, they are all wide body. Quote
Ianboom Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 Thanks all. Will make buying any used parts a lot easier. Stater kit ordered, still not picked a colour yet, got until tomorrow!! Ian Quote
Ianboom Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 Another question! Am I correct in thinking wide track is an option and my Mazda SDV is standard track? I want to order a rack and want to make sure I get the correct one-looking at cat motorsport at the moment. Also shocks, I'm looking at a set from Procomp-are bushed mountings ok or would I be better off with spherical bearings? Thanks Ian Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 There's no widetrack options designed to work with the Mx5 uprights. Quote
Ianboom Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 There's no widetrack options designed to work with the Mx5 uprights. Thanks, I've seen wide track racks advertised and don't want to get the wrong one! Ian Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Thanks, I've seen wide track racks advertised and don't want to get the wrong one! Ian the basic steering racks are the same for both standard and widetrack cars. If buying from Westfield the standard track rack is fitted with lock stops which limit the travel so the front wheels dont hit the bodywork at full lock. Quote
