Avon ZZS tyres

Anyone have any experience of the new Avon ZZS tyres and their suitability for hillclimbing? I know they are supposed to be better in the wet but are they a lot slower than the ZZRs in the dry?

What are you going to use them for?

You probably already know that the ZZR is list 1C and therefore cannot be used in Roadgoing classes. The ZZS looks a good option in 13" sizes but no real feedback yet on dry track performance

Chris (son  --  not a member here) was fastest road-going car at the HCA&AC sprint at Debden on Sunday (beating all twelve of the Class A8 "over-1700s"). It was our first outing on ZZSs  --  dry, sunny and warm. Subjectively, he thought the ZZSs had significantly less ultimate grip than the "slick-like" performance of ZZRs, but were much more progressive at the limit (much (his view) like ACB10s were).

He is in the process of attempting a data analysis against the same venue last October (also dry and sunny) where we were using ZZRs  --  if anything useful comes out of it, I'll report back.

Interesting anecdotal evidence, though not remotely statistically relevant,  --  of the sixteen "road-going" kits present, the four fastest were all on ZZSs.
