DamperMan
Having watched a lot of stuff he's done, he comes over as a proper nice bloke. Watching that live on the telly my heart was in my mouth. And really if anything had gone wrong it would have been horrible to see and un-filtered live

mr_mcp
Glad I wasn't the only one, I found it very dull. Can't argue with the positive sentiment towards Guy, but the show itself felt pretty unexciting and stretched out.
Olliebeak
I am afraid Guy has entered the realms of tv personality, his previous record attempts were great viewing just him and the crew none of the usual bull**** we saw last night. The program presenter and the whooping audience made it seem like an American tv show, I switched off after thirty minutes, I see he is not doing the TT this year which proves my point. This is to take nothing away from his achievement, courage, and personal performance .

He was hardly a TV personality and looked very uncomfortable in a live TV situation.
DamperMan
The program was quite long but they did need add information about the build up to it. Without that i'd have struggled to understand the difficulty. I fear a for him... hes held together with screws, and maybe he should take a rain check... it wouldn't take that much to paralyses him. He must be financially sound. Giving up the extreme Adrenalin/ or having some kids to bring the importance of being alive is what he needs. Andy - a15cro
He needs to do some more of his engineering shows, like the modern day Fred Dibnah.
DonPeffers
Probably an hour program would have sufficed and going around in circles is usually very boring as F1 shows but 6.5G downward force hanging onto a motorbike at 78mph is very impressive IMO.
magellan
I think he's not doing the tt this year in favour of doing a 24h mountain bike race??
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
I wonder if now when I'm arguing that he'd be crap for Top Gear style programs, (much though I like most of his shows, people will get what I mean.) He looked out of his depth and uncomfortable with all the studio stuff, bar the oily bits, when he could get to his bikes and ride. He's just not a presenter in the "professional presenter" sense. If he's going to continue TV work, I think they need to get back to very simple set ups; him and a crew, either participating directly in an event, minus all the studio stuff, which clearly embarrasses him and makes him even more uncomfortable than normal, or have him less the main focus of the show, presenting a story about something he's interested in. The Vulcan and Spitfire programs were classic examples of this, where the planes were the stars and his infectious excitement to be involved with them was captured perfectly. - and communicated to the audience wonderfully. He would make a fantastic Fred Dibna for the 21st century documentary star though, I suspect.
