Geoffrey Carter (Buttercup) Posted March 31, 2016 Author Posted March 31, 2016 Nice views Geoff but the music sent me to sleep. Haha. That's the idea. It's relaxing and pleasant. Nice to chill out too. Quote
TheHighlander123 Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Nice video mate, just waiting on a new motor coming for my DJI. Quote
Andy Banks Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Yes ok then. More than happy to bring it and see how it goes. Great many thanks I'd strongly caution against this (for now), sorry. Stoneleigh is the flight path of Coventry Airport, I've already had to post a notice re Helium balloons! Heaven knows what would happen if a) I asked them about a drone and b) I didn't ask and one was found to be buzzing around I have asked a similar question of the Members in the past as it's a great idea but I had not been informed of the Coventry thing until recently. Would be great to get some high shots though, maybe we can sweet talk the Stoneleigh guys and gals and "borrow" a cherry picker instead...? Maybe we can put a go-pro on a couple of balloons on long ribbons and see how that goes...! Quote
tolf Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Andy The drone will not be abive 100 feet so I don't see an issue Quote
Lyonspride Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 If there was a 200 year old law that could ban these things, the authorities would have done by now (just like the segway/hover boards), the media hate them and the general public now fear them. If not for what I believe is an impending ban, i'd buy one myself!! Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 I'd be surprised at an outright ban*, though I can see restricted flying areas specifically in respect of drones, I can also see water stricter regulation, up to and including licensing. *Though I could see ever stricter regulations on where they can be flown steadily making it so limiting that many just give up on them. 1 Quote

pistonbroke Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 http://droneaware.org/know-the-law Bottom of the page is the relevant bit Quote
pistonbroke Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Reading this from CAA would seem to rule it out http://www.caa.co.uk/drones/ [qoute] It is illegal to fly your drone over a congested area. Never fly within 50 metres of a person, vehicle or building. If you think a drone is being flown dangerously then call the local police on 101. Quote
Geoffrey Carter (Buttercup) Posted April 2, 2016 Author Posted April 2, 2016 Afternoon All. All the above comments are noted and I was previously aware of them. On top of the above I would also like to add about insurance. I took out insurance through the British Model Flying Association for when I am out and about flying. I am not saying that this means I can do whatever I want but I thought that it was really important to have insurance in place if any incident was to take place anywhere. 1 Quote
tolf Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Gents Please carry on discussing without the Stoneleigh Exterior Organiser i.e. Me Just thought it would be a good idea to have some footage of our area from 100 foot above the marquee and avenue What do I know ?? Quote
Andy Banks Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Thanks for the pointers but think we've hijacked the OP intent and rather detracted from the perfectly sensible and safe and stunning work, back on topic then.. 1 Quote

Hi Andy. I did not have a problem with the thread changing as it brought out some really great points. Thanks for thinking about me though and the great comments. Quote
