Two weeks ago we purchased a Mk3 MX5 as a hire car and at the very last minute Richard decided to enter it into the MaX5 round at Oulton - having only ever raced Mk1's, I personally thought the idea was 'risky' to enter a Mk3 as he has never raced one before - but, hey-ho!

The day started badly with Richard only able to complete one timed lap in qualifying as his gearbox failed on his third lap, luckily this one lap put him second on the grid with Nick Dunn only just beating his time in the last two minutes of qualifying.

The Gearbox was changed but we had to go with a best guess set-up for race 1. Race 1 went reasonably well with Richard finishing just behind Nick but managing to get the fastest lap of the race which was a bonus :-)

A slight set-up change for Race 2 now we had some miles on the car and Richard led from Lights to Flag with some very consistent lap times - good ending to a stressful day!

Lap Times:

1:49.1

1:43.8

1:43.7
