Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
Oops indeed, hopefully you'll stich back together OK and haven't nicked any of the tendon etc. Seeing your own bone is never a nice feeling though, get well soon. DamperMan
It will Defo take hours off my life as I'll not get this time back... Plastic surgeons next... Maybe today maybe tomorrow!
B.RAD
Surely there was an easier way to get out of the wife's tasks?? All the best for a speedy recovery, sounds orrible.
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary
That sounds pretty horrible. Hope it's not to serious and you get sorted soon.
jeff oakley
Look on the bright side it could have been much worse as axe verses finger is usually a digit in a bag of peas rush to the hospital. Dave is so right though when he says the sight of your own bone is not a nice sight. Mine was my leg with a 9" angle grinder that kicked back and made beeline for my shin. Don't know which was worse, the sight of my bone or the wife fainting!
DamperMan
It's not proper serious and it doesn't hurt. Maybe that's not good on the nerve front. It looks very nasty... I realise I like having 2 hands... Trying to wash the remaining good hand on its own is harder than I expected... And now the dressing is saturated I'm leaking all over. They would not stitch it, as tomorrow the plastic sergeons want to look at the internal damage... Hopefully they will stitch me up at least. It will be more of a challenge putting together what I took apart today. refitting the wishbones, changing bushes, and changing the crankshaft seal. jeff oakley
Many years ago I was working late with a mate who was covered in underseal and crap. He was taking an old wing mirror off when he slipped and cut his hand in the web between his fingers in the middle. It was a bad cut about 15mm deep. When I got him to the hospital he was told to clean it all up and was in agony but not making too much headway. A very large nurse came over and took one look and then got a scrubbing brush and "helped" him. The screams he made I can still hear now echoing around a 1950s built hospital but it was eventually clean enough for a Doctor to do his thing. All she kept saying to him was "stop being a baby" different times then.
